First up lets get the good out of the way. Atkinson, Hassell and Kay were all magnificant at that back for us. Hayes and Devaney also impressed me today. Devaney took his goal very well and showed Nardiello what he should have done with his wasted chance. Kyel Reid should have broke the net with his one on one as well. Hecky played crap again and put us in a few dodgy positions. Lets be right we were lucky today to walk away with three points. Especially getting away with the blatant handball on the line. It wasn't that good of a win considering our squad is much bigger, so can swap and change more to keep things fresh. We play like that today on saturday and we are in for a big beating. Davey is so negative having us sitting back with nine behind the ball on a one goal lead. Togwell didn't play too well today but we don't have decent cover for him so he will always be in the starting lineup. However i am happy we have won and kept a clean sheet. Being five points clear of relegation is cool.

 

Not been funny like but, for starters, Atkinson nearly gifted them 2 goals....

played ok other than that.

Was atkinson the one who saved the ball off of the line?? sat in the ponty but wasnt sure if it was him

 

We hit the bar twice and missed two one-on-ones, also forced 2 or 3 other good saves. They had 3 shots on target in total and just pumped longball after longball. I don't see how we were that lucky.

As for the comment that "it wasn't that good of a win", when everybody around us lost, and we had to win today to get back in the group trying to get out of trouble (Luton, QPR etc), it was a bloody massive win, particularly when a young lad has to be thrown in at the back like that.

It's quality, not quantity. How big was the squad that got us promoted (both lastyear andin 96 come to thinkof it)? They're a good side and that is a massive three points, an excellent win. We have had a lot of'bad luck' this season (remember when we thought it wouldnever end)? We deserve a little bit ofgood luck and three points off Burnley is brilliant - we can't pick and choose them orhow we get them, every point is vital.</p>

I think you went to a different Barnsley Vs Burnley game than I did

we were better than them in every department, Blatant hand ball..... well eventually even their own fans conceded it was not...yes Burnley had a sack full of chances to score...however we had TWO sackfulls...and we took one. Apparently if you score just one more than the opponents you win, what a strange idea.And if we play like that Vs the Owls then we will not shame ourselves no matter what the outcome.

 

think people should lay off Atkinson a bit...

considering it was his debut and the highest level of football hes played he did ok. looked shaky first half but settled second and played well-as did all the back four. And he perhaps should've scored too.weren't man of match tho.....

thought we were solid yesterday and deserved the win. Devaney was excellent first half, nardy did ok and Togwell had his best game for a while, altho did give possesion away a bit regularly 2nd half. Thought Kay and Hassell were outstanding today, maybe time to give Kay club captaincy???

 

Atkinson did really well and he is going to be worth good money in the future. I would love a back four of Austin, Atkinson, Kay and Hassell all the time.

I felt sorry for atkinson. He wasn't helped out by his goalkeeper at all who put in his worst performance in a long time and had absolutly no control over his area.
