I started the day by getting to oakwell. With me going on my own I decided to go on the coach instead of getting the train. This turned out to be a good idea has the trains weren’t running in to Leicester and they had to get the coach from Derby before getting the train back to Yorkshire. Anyway I got on the coach and was one of the first on the coach, I noticed the seat was free that I sat in when Barnsley beat peterbough in 2009. Why would I want to sit in that seat you may ask, well that’s the seat I sat in last time I went to an away game on my own and they won.
Anyway the coach set off just after 12 and we were on our way. I spent the next hour and half checking the bbs and a few other pages. Soon enough we were closing in on Leicester and we reached the Leicester services. Has we had 25 mins to kill, I decided to have a KFC and decided to get the big daddy meal. This time I remembered to ask for the burger with NO Mayo or cheese, lovely. I sat eating that while watched 100’s of cars pass underneath me. By 1.50 I had eaten that and it was time to get back on the coach. Once back on the coach it was time for us to set off. Whilst on the coach the services to the ground I noticed the team news was out. I was a little shocked that Gray was starting and Davies was on the bench. Interesting.
We got to the ground and I decided to go straight in and not look around the ground. I looked for the betting kiosks but I was told by a steward that they weren’t any in there and to save my money. O I made my way up to the seats. Once sat I realised what a nice ground it was (not been since 2008). Anyway after watching the finishing practice it was soon time for the start. It was a messy first ten with only one save of note. Steele made it to his left and tipped it round the post from a free kick. England number one rang around the King power as the traveling reds showed the praise. Soon after that Barnsley were on the break and Vaz te had 20 yards to run in to, he got the ball and ran at the full back while Drinkwater went on the outside and Vaz te decided to pass, Drinkwater laid it on a plate for Gray and he put it away. Barnsley fans sang Viva vaz te or something, not a clue how it goes.
Not long after Leicester went on the attack and it led to a goal. Lloyd dyer who’s very quick ran in from the left to the right and hassell just couldn’t keep up and he put it away nicely, not sure if there was a deflection off hassell?
Leicester did seem to be on top after that and they really tested the tykes back line. Anyway mid-way through the half Barnsley got the ball up the field, Vaz te (I think) pass the ball to drinkwater and initially he didn’t know what to do with the ball, anyway he decided to cross the ball and he did perfectly. Andy gray made a run from the back stick in to the middle and put it away nicely. The reds fans sang Gray Gray andy andy gray, he gets the ball, he scores a goal, andy andy gray.
The half ended with Barnsley wining a corner but couldn’t take it has the ref signalled for half time. The Leicester fans left the pitch to boo’s from the home fans.

The second half was much of nothing really. Leicester seemed to have a lot of the ball but apart from hitting the bar Barnsley had the better of the chances. Perkins, Done and Vaz te could have made it 3-1 or more.
The Barnsley fans really were good yesterday. They cheered on the team and in-between sang a few funny songs at the drummer.

Steele, he made a couple of very good saves but also made a few minor errors. He’s totally different to Kasper, he bounces around and his a real leader from the back. Steele seems more quitter than him. 6

Hassell, I was really please in the whole with hassell. He played well and when on the ball seems very composed on either foot. 7

Foster, played well, won his headers and did the simple things well. Well done Fozzy. 7

Mcnulty, he played well. Made a few minor mistakes but did well, Barnsley passed the ball well yesterday and he helped in recycling the ball. 6
Mcevley, he did the things he did well very well yesterday but the things he did poor were very poor. He attacked well and put Done in well. He also made a tackle that was as good has scoring a goal.

Addison, did his thing. Broke up played and passed it. Nice one Miles 7

Drinkwater, in the first half he looked the best player on the pitch. Ran, passed tackled. Better than any of their big earning players. In the second half he was less noticeable but did lots of hard work in defence. 9.

Perkins, when going forward he can be a little bit of a weak link, he always goes on to that left foot which means he cuts half that pitch off. In defence he was like a little terrier and never stopped running. Looks good next to Drinkwater though. Petty we haven’t got those 2 and Butterfield. I can’t think of a better trio in the league. 7

Dagnall, played ok, ran and worked hard. Not really noticeable on the ball. 6

Vazte, he played well yesterday. Ran a lot and made chances and pushed Barnsley up the field at times. Should have scored but by that time his legs had gone. 7

Gray. Held the ball up well, scored a couple of good goals. If he had a extra yard of pace he could be matched to any striker in this league IMO. 9

Davies, came on played well. Little shocked when he came on for Addison though. Well done craig. 7

just 1 thing about their goal hemmsy lad

hassell had to come all the way across from right back to try and challenge their right winger. the long ball was a peach that took our central defenders out of the game, hassell was very unlucky not to block the shot.
    overall good post though

I think the fact you have not put many abbreviations in helps too.
I reckon that you sometimes try to post things too quickly and thats whenyou make a mess, because I do too.

    Good report, thanks for that.

Didn't go to the game yesterday but I get the impression Drinkwater's form is going to be key to success in the 2nd half of the season. The cross for the 2nd in particular was sublime.

From what I've seen of the game I think you're bang on re: Hassell.

Play like that for 90% of the games that are left and he WILL be on loan to a prem team next season.

Nowt wrong with that report there mate. The odd spelling mistake but so what? It's readable and actually ignoring those spelling mistakes the English is pretty good and the report reads well, in fact its a bloody good read.

I think that is what people have complained about in the past (myself included obviously). When you put the effort in you CAN make really good posts which make sense to everybody, its when you don't try at all and just tell people 'well I know what it means' that we get pissed off.

I don't care if you write has instead of as occasionally or if you simply don't know how to spell a word, as long as it looks roughly like the word and we can work out what it means then its ok. The problem comes when you start talking in code with KPT, SD, ASDL and things that might make sense to you but don't to the rest of us. I do understand why you do it, you think about it in your head and if you're talking about Rio Ferdinand for example then shortening it to RF makes sense to you, it's obvious what you mean. You have to try to remember though that we don't know you're thinking about Rio Ferdinand so RF could mean almost anything. If you're obviously talking about a player and you've already mentioned him then fine shorten it the second time because we'll work it out but at other times it is really hard to know what you mean. Just try to imagine reading your posts as somebody who isn't inside your head and you'll see what we mean.

My poll last night wasn't to embarrass you (I don't think you're the kind of lad who gets embarrassed by people having a go at your writing, you'd have left the BBS a year ago if you were), it was to show you that while you think your posts are fine there are a lot of people who struggle at times to understand you, I was hoping you'd see that and realise that you need to put a bit more effort into making your posts readable.

The way I see things are like this. If it is on the official site, in a newspaper or anywhere else 'official' then it should be spot on with no spelling mistakes and perfect grammar. If it is on here or in any other unofficial informal setting then it should be clear and readable but the odd spelling or grammatical mistake is fine (like how I don't bother with capitals sometimes). If it is on msn/skype/text messages or any other one on one situation then as long as that one other person can understand you then write however you want. Well thats the way I think writing should be anyway, others might disagree.

Anyway back to your report. I think it's a good report which is well written and made me chuckle in places (the paranoid superstitious same seat bit), I also think it's fair and informative with the player ratings bit. You should write more match reports after you've been to games, people would enjoy them.

Oh one little thing, what about Done? Have you got a rating for him?
