Watched on Ifollow: Davies: 8- Mr. Reliable. Scared me on a couple kicks here and there but seemed to control his area well Cavare: 6.5- Had a couple shots and looked good attacking wise, seemed like he got caught out of position a few times though Pinnock: 6- Worst game in a Barnsley shirt among an amazing season. First time I've ever seen him frazzled Lindsay: 7.5- Good game and very composed. Sometimes seems too casual though and loses possession needlessly is my only complaint Pinilos: 8.5- Played under control all game, put some good crosses in as well as some good tackles Thiam: 8.5- Looked most likely to score for us and had a couple very good shots that were unlucky Mowatt: 8.5- He is what makes us tick, so in control when dribbling Dougall: 7.5- Makes it look easy, puts some good tackles, and rarely gives it away. Couple needless fouls Green: 7.0- Some good touches and was lively and involved. He gets pushed off the ball by bigger defenders but he is definitely a good addition in my opinion Bahre: 5.5- I like Bahre a lot actually but sometimes he looks like the best player in a red shirt, and sometimes the worst. Today was a bad one. We should be patient with this kid though, he will come good. Gave the ball away way too many times today. Woodrow: 7.0- Decent game, nothing special for his standards. Disallowed goal (couldn't tell if it was offside) would have likely been the winner though Subs: J. Williams 6.5- Looked decent actually, think he is a better right winger than right back Adebayejo: 6.0- Didn't really have a chance to do much but was a good presence out there, thought he was a good outlet a couple times Overall- thought we dominated the first half and looked tired second half. I'm content with a point considering the weather and that we still control our own destiny. Sunderland looked most dangerous from set pieces and we gave away a lot of cheap corners and free kicks, we could have been punished. We definitely looked and are the better "footballing" side.
Wouldn’t have scored anyone over 7 myself. Thought Lindsay and pinnilos were the best of an average bunch.
As Jimmy said above, we were average, no one pulled up any trees and a couple of players had stinkers. It would be 7's across the board apart from Bahre and Pinnock who'd get 6's. Both teams looked like it was a game they could have done without playing.
I would disagree with this. I thought we looked excellent in the first half and were unlucky not to go in ahead. The conditions were appalling yet we still tried to play. They had a very good patch in the second half but that said we came very close on a few occasions (offside , own goal, nearly scored from a corner ) in the second half and finished the stronger of the two teams as it became stretched. Liam Lindsay was outstanding. Mowatt, Pinillos also played well. On the whole a really good performance against a team with some excellent footballers.
Thanks for sharing, KB. I really appreciate the talents of Davies, Lindsay, Thiam & Bähre (members of the Marmite Gang) so I'm giving your report 10 Your top mark of 8.5 also works for me - just like ice skating, gymnastics or diving, you made an adjustment for the complications of the weather conditions.
It’s a shame such a key game and top teams was spoilt with the weather. An ok performance by both sides and not many chances but both teams maybe could have scored. I think we would have seen a bit more quality in better conditions. Lindsey was great, Pinilos too and Mowatt workmate was excellent. Barre and Dougal a bit off it with passing and concentration. Cauley worked hard but seems to have to go hunting the ball in areas leaving us not on the shoulder of the defence enough
It didn't feel like a typical Tuesday night at all (apart from the breeze). There was a good atmosphere, the players worked hard. And we managed to keep a clean sheet against an opponent who had scored for 44 games on the bounce. There may not have been goals, but I didn't think it was a drab affair at all!
