Firstly, I'd like to say well done and thanks to Simon Davey, Patrick Cryne and the rest of the team. Bringing Cureton in is an excellent signing, and will only better our already good Championship team.

I've always liked Cureton, back to his days at Bristol Rovers. Anyone remember when we played Bristol Rovers in the FA Cup at Oakwell, and beat them 4-1? He set the goal up for Jason Roberts that day, and between those two, that season, they were ridiculously good. They even had Nathan Ellington coming through the ranks.

A few people have stated that he hasn't done much this season. Well, that's purely because he hasn't been playing. Two seasons ago, in this very same league, he was part of the striker force that took Colchester United within touching distance of the playoffs, not bad, considering where Colchester are languishing now.

I think this is a quality signing. If we can continue to supply the service up to Macken and Cureton, like we have been doing in the past - then I believe we will do very well. That's my only gripe for us this season: We have missed far, far too many chances and we needed someone who could put the ball in the net. Davey spent 1.2 mil on Humey, but I believe Humey to be more of an all-round attacking player (bit like JCR) and I personally think Cureton is a better FINISHER than Iain Hume and if we'd have had him at the beginning of the season, we'd have been in a playoff berth right now. Not to say Iain Hume isn't a great player, he is, and I love him, get well soon mate.

I've looked over Curetons goal scoring record, and between him leaving Reading and joining Colchester (Some 5 seasons), he went through something of a goal drought. Now, it's strange, considering he scored for fun at Bristol Rovers, for fun at Reading and then the big gap emerged, before he started scoring for fun at Colchester - he also scored 14 last season for Norwich. I can only put this down to personal problems, the teams he was playing in and the manager. Mainly the teams he was playing in. A striker of Curetons class does not forget how to finish like he can, that's a given. When Colchester made us look like fools two seasons ago, Cureton showed some of the best finishing I've seen down at Oakwell when they beat us 0-3. He's a class act. He's a proven striker at this level, and I only expect good things. He's experienced and knows what it takes in this division. We've now got a good mix of young talent and older experience in the squad, coupled with a few players that have some continental flair, and I believe we will do pretty well this season.

Credit to Simon and the team for pulling this off. I only hope we take the confidence into Saturdays game, and beat those scabby *****.

    COME ON YOU REDS!!!

    Oh, and one more thing.

Cureton is ONE goal away from his 200th career goal. With 544 appearances notched up. Not too shabby at all.

    I agree too

And Simon Davey must get a lot of praise. He seems to get the best out of the experienced players like Macken, Moore and Foster who before joining our club were stuck on the bench or in the reserves of their previous clubs, i can only expect the same from Cureton too.

2-1 on Saturday to the super reds.

    "because he hasn't been playing"

He's played in just about every Norwich game this season. Started a handful, the rest as sub, usually getting at least 30 minutes under his belt.</p>

Anderson controls the midfield and the oakwell reds rampage through Forest for Simon Davey's biggest win of the season!

    Fair enough mate.

But obviously, he isn't enjoying his time their, and if he isn't happy, he's not going to be at his best.

Starting a game and coming off the bench are two very different things, although the end result is the same, for a player like Cureton, he wants to be and should be starting.

Yeah, it's just not enough for a player like him.

He needs a good run in the first team.

We have been crying out for a proven Championship striker, we have got exactly that. Lets hope he can perform for us, he certainly has got the talent.

    Fair few good points there

Its a personal thing for me. When we were languishing in League One and Struggling, QPR signed him from that Pusan so and so, and I was properly jealous.

I have always rated him, and to this day wished he was in our squad. Today has been a good day in that regard, because a player I have always wanted us to sign has.

Now I could easily be pillocked by him not doing owt, easily, but even if he doesn't deliver it won't take away what he's done so far in his career.

He's no Kevin Phillips don't get me wrong, but at this level he's bang on.

He as been a decent striker, mainly at Colchester. If he still as the desire then he could be a good signing by Davey. But lets not get to carried away. Fans may be getting a little bit to excited on the prospects of a Cureton and Macken strike force, plus De Silva coming back and the side looks unbeatable. But we all know that it dosn't work like that. When everyone thinks that we will go down to Nottingham and blow them away now we have Cureton could end up very dissapointed indeed. Lets give him time to settle, if he dosn't score in the first three games then it wont be long before he is has popular as Rigters, Mossto and the rest. Give him time. :)

    Couldn't agree more

I don't think we'll go to forest and batter them by any stretch.

I think we've got more than a fair to middling chance of winning 1-0 tho. Look at their home form, not many goals. We don't concede many with Anderson either.

My mate just text me the news re. Cureton. I had no idea.

I am very pleased. That's a good signing. Well done PC, SD and the club. It's a really encouraging move.

    Not bad but...

... word is he's about two yards off the pace since his Bristol / Reading days. Possibly a bit too much like Macken.
