My thoughts on the game yesterday

To be honest i was disappointed with the way we approached the game yesterday and we were very lucky to come away with 3 points. Paul Heckingbottom was a disgrace and playing against any other team in this league we would have been destroyed. Thankfully we were playing a very poor side, who flattered us tremendously and all the hype surrounding us staying up will soon be shortlived. I will obviously keep following the reds but i fear it is almost inevitble that Leeds will escape relegation at the cost of ourseleves, judging by the way they have been playing lately. Hope i am proved wrong mind

Rather take the points than a good result at the moment

No point playing great football and getting beat.

That's it, one game and a million different opinions.

I thought we came to attack and that's what we did for the first half when they never got a look in really.

In the second half we defended the 3 nil lead when Tilson had obviously told his players to go out and attack like mad, hence the nail biting tension as they totally battered our box for a solid 30 minutes and it was backs against the wall.

We weathered it though and started to take control again when McCann hit the crossbar and Ferenci was unlucky with a low drive.

It was nerve wracking to watch and you knew that if Sarfend got 2 goals they would get another.

The lads defended heroically though and Nyatanga was awesome, along with Kay and all of them really as all went back to defend the corners and free kicks.

The referee was abysmal and if any team had a 12th man it was Southend.

I lost count of the number of free kicks that he he gave them outside the box, he hardly favoured us at all afternoon and was actually swayed by Sarfend players crowding him when decisions went against them.

They tried to get him to send Howard off for handballing when he already had picked up a yellow.

As for Hecky, I like Hecky. He lacks pace but gets stuck in and I was relieved to see that Davey had put on Kyel Reid to mark Campbell-Ryce thus matching speed for speed.

Hecky put some good balls into the box and defended with his life and I get upset when I see him taking so much stick. He lives, breathes and dies for this Club and has turned down many other clubs to stay with us. His experience yesterday counted for a lot and in the end, Davey does seem to like him.

I thought the performance yesterday was very spirited, but we always look better when we are attacking and not sat back waiting for teams to come at us like we did in the second half yesterday.

My first visit to Sarfend and Roots Hall and I had a fantastic day with friends and a lot of laughs and cheers and groans and tension and final euphoria at the last kick.

More of the same please next Saturday (But not sitting back defending a lead!)

Sparrapark. You my friend, are a total ****. You see what you like to see. We were amazing yesterday all over the park. Get off your computer screen and radio and actually watch Barnsley, you might be surprised. Support Leeds or Wednesday you fickle bugger, it might suit you. Im more than prepared to watch dog **** whilst watching the reds. They are my team, for better or worse.

Keep ya radio on and cheer the blunts, wankday and weeds on you complete fecking moron.

Yesterday was a vital win in highly pressurised circumstances.
The first 15 mins when Southend came out of the blocks I feared the worst but we got hold of the ball and played quite well.

I personaly think 4 more points will be enough.

Lets get 3 of them next Sat.

Come on you Reds. We can do this!!

    Well said Tina .

We took the game to them first half and were in control . If Nardis last attempt beforehalf timehad gone in it wouldhave been game over at half time .

Second half at 3 0 ,Davey subbed Howard and Nardi . I appreciate why as both couldhave got sent off with that gamma minus semimoron of a referee .

However we lost a lot of momentum . Howard was play maker in midfield and Nardi drawing 3 defenders who did not know what to do with him .

Result was the midfield defended in stead of holding the ball up and getting forward and we gave Campbell ryce acres of space to run at us .

The great thing is even though we lost our formation a bit, we dug in deep and the whole team batteld like hell to the final whistle .

We all know Hecky is not the fastest player .However he gives his best every game and is a real team player.

On saturday we went out onto that pitch believing we could win . We will stay up if we have that same belief the next 3 games.

We have to think we can get 9 points and settle for 7 as a minimum .

    The atmosphere was brilliant yesterday.

Lets make Oakwell the same for the next 2 saturdays instead of it being like a 19 th Century version of the Roman forum when the team must think they are being thrown to the lions , if the negative , grumpy ,moaning ,whinging fans who sit near me ( London tykes except one !!! lol not included in this of course ! ) are typical of the rest of the ground.

I even wish 2 of our last 3 games were away for that reason .
We can be the 12 th player on the pitch .

    Freya .

There really is no need for that kind of abuse. I assumed this website was for posting honest opinions. I did watch the match on the radio but i would never cheer on another team, but i do prefer all the yorkshire sides to do well.
