I don't see anything wrong with it i'm afraid. People have been slagging him off for his reply which is uncalled for. I don't always agree with what he does but lets look at the bigger picture. He's been a fan many years before most on here were even born, as put a hell of a lot of money into OUR team and is only human like the rest of us. Imagine pumping serious cash into something your passionate about and then being talked to by people like dirt. Gordon i commend you on your patient reply to the original letter as you would have been more than entitled to say much worse. I agree with many of the comments sent to Gordon but just not how they were put to him.

PS: I have emailed football heaven the two letters to see what they think of it. Might get a bit of airtime tonight if they read them in time, but i only sent them five minutes ago.

    I dare say that..

the average season ticket holder pumps as much cash into BFC per season as Mr Shepherd does. However, his work on the financial side has been invaluable, but please don't confuse him with PC...

Gordon as made plenty of mistakes with the club. However everyone makes mistakes and as long as we stay up i will be happy.

"He's been a fan many years before most on here were even born"

So what does that give him over the younger generation? A free bus pass, memories of black and white television, and the right to legitimately use the phrase "you young whippersnappers" and actually know what a whippersnapper is?

    Awesome.

    What gives you the right...

to send the letters to the media ?? Did you write or receive either
of them ?? I'd be very surprised if any media used them without
    knowing their provenance.

    RE: I dare say that..

Time is money ! Gordon has invested nearly two years of his time.

In my estimations, a chairman of a company with 100+ employees would manage to get a wage of around £80-£100k.

So, although Dreamboy is often wrong - I anticpate that Gordon has invested £160k-£200k - before tax.

So - you are wrong - Gordon has invested money into BFC.

    I was simply pointing out..

the inaccuracy in DB3K's claims. Yes, in terms of time, GS has invested a lot, but in terms of cold hard cash I do not believe he has invested anything above a normal level of a season ticket holder.

As right as you are, there is no way DB3K thought about it in those terms!!

Let's not mistake my post as an attack on GS though eh?

What gives the idiot who wrote the letter to GS the right to slag GS off? Its an open forum and if he's daft enough to put the letters on here then anyone can do anything they bloody well like with them.

redstar, you're right. remember when shep announced that eh hadnt put any money in teh club, he said that it was cryne who deserved the credit for putting the cash in.

    Indeed

Gord's there because Cryne doesn't want anything to do with the day to day running on the club.

I dont agree. The reason for this board is for the Barnsley fans to let rip , praise and criticise, within the confines of the board. We allow guests who which to visit, do so. But unless they are members they may NOT post. I recon this is just the same, DB has moved something from this board to a bigger forum and I recon that is not on

thats as i understand it too. cryne trusts shep to use crynes money. thats the logical inference isnt it?

im neutral eitehr way, and i agree this is where the fans can have their say, however, the original letter and response didnt come through this board, a member of the board chose to post his letter and then response - therefore taking it to a wider forum. it'd be different if comment were made on this board and shep replied to them, on this board, but hey, that used to happen, and in fact the reason shep said for not posting anymore on here, is due to similar tones to the letter of some postings.

    Look.......

just because i don't agree with Shephere all the time doesn't mean i cannot ever agree with him. On this occasion he gets my backing and that doesn't make me a back tracker.
