don't think anyone in the team had what you could call a good game. Austin had a particularly bad day, the first goal was scored from the area he was supposedly responsible for, and continued to give the ball away on a number of occasions. The rest of the defence was also bad, even by our own fairly low standards. I cannot justify what made people at the club think Atkinson is a good player because he failed to win most balls sent his way and, like Austin, gave the ball away numerous times. Hassel did little wrong as per usual and Anthony Kay actually played well and looked strong against the Wendy forwards but spoilt his performance by slipping and gifting a goal.

Apart from the defence nobody did terrible but nobody did well. Colgan scooped up all easy saves and came out bravely on one occasion but failed to make any impression on players running through to score goals. Devaney tried hard but achieved little as did Robbie Williams. Kyel Reid made some good runs but didn't look strong enough, even for his size and was repeatedly muscled off the ball. Hayes made little impression apart from running on to a couple of through balls but I was very disappointed by the performance of Nardiello. He was offside all the time during the first half and seemed as lazy as ever, never running unless the ball was played into his feet. And when he did get the ball he was incredibly ball greedy, Robbie Williams was free in the middle of the box but Nads decided to go on running along the touchline instead of pulling it back.

My man of the match, by default, would be Grant McCann, he played a couple of good passes, made some important tackles and game as close as anybody to scoring with his free kick.

    Phew...rant over
