TODAYS GAME: First half thought we played okay and should have at least one, possibly two penalty decisions. Second half we never got in the game. I could complain about the inept officials all day long, however, they we not the sole reason for the loss today. In my opinion SD made some poor tactical decisions today. Firstly the team selection and decision to play Nyatanga at left fullback? Lewin is a good centre half but not a good fullback. Why not play Kozluk-left, Foster-right with Souza and Nyatanga as central pair? Secondly Hassel IS NOT as midfielder! okay he's done well last few games but dwells on the ball and far to often gets caught in possession. I also feel SD got subsitutions all wrong. KO was causing there defence a few problems and the addition of Nardiello made life easy for the Blades. Danny was good in League 1 but got bullied by Morgan and offered us nothing today. Finally SD's Gun-Ho tactics i.e. extra fwd and go 4-3-3, we lost width lost momentum and at that point it was game over. We badly missed JCR today, Leon is good on the ball but doesn't have pace to play on the wing. If SD knew JCR was missing why have Ricketts or Butterfield on the bench? WEMBLEY: If we are going to make it past the semi's we need to seriously book up our ideas. The squad is a little lightweight without the likes of key players e.g. Macken, Nyatanga & De Silva. If we have any ambition to win the cup we will surely see someone else coming to add strength. Ideally I would like to see a forward come in, closely followed by a holding midfielder. Watch this space, loan market closes on Thursday. THE END OF SEASON RUN IN: Looking at the table I think it is safe to say that Scnuthorpe and Colchester are favourtites for the drop, leaving one further spot to be filled. This looks to be a battle between seven clubs; us, blackpool, norwich, leicester, Owls, Coventry & Southampton. Looking at fixtures Southamptons is probably the toughest but no one has an easy run in. Reds: Burnley (A), Watford (A), PNE (A), Hull (H), Leicester (H), Charlton (H) and Cardiff (A) Blackpool: Palace (A), WBA (H), Cardiff (A), Owls (H), Plymouth (A), Watford (H) Coventry: Plymouth (H), Owls (A), Watford (A), Stoke (H), Colchester (A), Wolves (H), Charlton (A) Leicester: Scnuthorpe (H), Sheff U (A), Colchester (H), Barnsley (A), Owls (H), Stoke (A) Norwich: Cardiff (A), Bristol (H), Charlton (A), Burnley (H), WBA (A), Sheff U (A) Owls: Stoke (H), Scnuthorpe (A), Sheff U (A), Plymouth (H), Blackpool (A), Leicester (A), Norwich (H) S'thmptn: Cardiff (A), Bristol (H), Charlton (A), Burnley (H), WBA (A), Sheff U (A) Our next three games will be crutial as are all away from home, I just hope we can finally get that away and put together a run towards the end of the season. But the big game for us will be at home vs Leciester, I just hope we have some point on the board before then. The Owls have a tough few games next they face in form Stoke, followed by Scnuthorpe away (law's old club), Sheff U away (local derby) and Plymouth at home (return of King Sturrock). Looking at fixtures I predict Southampton for the drop. Sad to see another big club struggling but rather them than us.
I'd agree with that, between us, Leicester, Coventry and Southampton for the drop and they're big clubs(blagger) , Leicester have never been outside top 2 leagues in their history. I reckon Coventry, hopefully.
