Muller: Looks strong and confident, good save with his legs and I'm not sure what he could've done about the goal. Maybe has too much of a kick on him - a lot of his goal kicks went straight to their keeper!!! Nyatanga & Souza: Both looked good, won a lot of balls in the air and held off two physical centre-forwards. Souza is definitely a centre-half and not a left-back!!! Reid: Was turned far too often and played some dangerous balls in our third of the pitch. At times I thought him and Kozluk weren't mates 'cos he failed a number of times to spot him in acres of space. Good finish, mind you. Werling: Not the best first half - a good cross for Mostto though. Second half he went from strength to strength. Quick and some evidence of him being tricky. Made some great crosses, only problem there wasn't always someone in the box for 'em! Kozluk: Looked a far sight better than Setdi - some wayward crosses but an excellent ball for the first goal capped off some great movement. Johnson: Held the fort well - his presence allowed Ricketts and Howard to push forward and cause a few problems in the first half. Some decent passes but a few stray ones too. Howard & Ricketts: Evidence of some good link up play between those two which is very promising especially considering Johnson allows them both to roam a little. Ricketts has a decent touch and some skill. Mostto: Some signs of promise, better in the air than I'd anticipated. Going to take a lot of time for him to adapt to the English game but I think some good things are definitely to come... Odejayi: Man of the match. Brushed their defenders off at times, some neat footwork and can hold the ball up well. Brilliant little pass to Kozluk for the first goal (it was him, wasn't it?). A few more games and he'll be a class act for the Reds. Deserved a goal. Ferenzci: Quality header for his goal. Perhaps needs to learn the art of subtlety while barging defenders in the back! Yes, it was League Two opposition but the result will boost the lads' confidence and has given them a valuable ninety minutes to gel in a competitive match. Good passing and movement all round and the new system seemed to pay off. We might be still due a few tonkings until the ship is steadied but there's a whole lot of positives to come out of tonight...
On the downside... Still plenty of work to do. Apart from a few spells I thought the first half was fairly dire as was the first ten / fifteen minutes of the second. However, once we'd upped it a gear I thought the potential was clear to see.
