I wasn't at the match, but listened to it on Player. It sounded to me as though we gave a reasonable account of ourselves and the stats on the BBC would back that view.

The starting line-up suggested that we were at least going to try and show some initiative going forward, which proved to be the case as we had a reasonable share of the possession and got off a decent number of shots against a side that will be right in the mix come the end of the season.

The big difference seemed to be the physical power and speed of Wolves, plus the ability of the likes of Jarvis (who West Ham have today bid £10M for) and the front pair of Doyle and Ebanks-Blake, who are as good a line as any in the division.

Our long-standing defensive frailties were highlighted once again however, but with Cranie still to bed in and Stones to come back versus last season, I hope we can go some way to turning that particular corner over the course of the season.

All in all, I was disappointed to hear us lose by a two goal margin. I felt a one goal win for Wolves would have been fair, but until we toughen up at the back we are always likely to ship goals away from home.

I never expected us to get anything from Wolves to be honest, but I have some hope of getting a positive result at Brighton. If we can show some defensive grit down there and show some adventure with the ball, then I feel we could nick a draw.

And if that's the case, then who wouldn't be delighted with four points from those opening three games? It's a big "if" of course, but on the other hand, I'd have taken three points from our opening three games had someone offered it a month ago...
