Happy New Year everyone. The game was played in awful conditions throughout but I thought we adapted very well.We actually looked a very decent team all way through and fully deserved 3 points having said that to go a goal behind to an in form City a point was gratefully excepted.I thought all the team put a great shift in but a mention go's out to one or two individuals. The midfield looked very good with a look of solidity in defence but also good attacking intent.Dawson, Perkins,Mellis,Shea and O'Brien all worked and combined very well.Kennedy had a lot better game and apart from being in any danger he played the ball out of defence very well,no hoofing it up to O'Grady but passing infield or up the line to his support player. Now to a player who's not been at his best for a couple of games,David Perkins.I think having a rest has done him the world of good.He covered every blade of grass and looked a lot fresher than of late.Talking to City fans at halftime and full time to a man (and woman)all mentioned how they'd love to have a player like Perkins in there team.My ratings 7 to all,8's to Dawson,Perkins and O'Brien.
This season might prove to be all about might have beens. If only we had picked up wins when they were deserved, and draws instead of narrow defeats. This squad of players has talent individually but we have so far failed to get the right eleven on the pitch consistently. We've had a few bits of sunshine in the rain. Well, the weather had better clear up pretty fast before it gets too late. I think we will be ok
The game reminded me of last New Years day at Peterborough when we played so well but lost to put us adrift at the bottom. At full time my feelings were we're going down but the performance gave me a glimmer of hope.I hope this year repeats its self.
