There as been a lot of sentimentality over Flickers departure, to be honest he did save us last season, but he was never my kind of manager I have posted this from the start of his appointment. I could never work out his tactics too much like K H's and he was obstinate in his disregard of proven players always picked his friends first, then when he signed the 41 year Pollock [who he and his family spent a biking holiday with in the summer] made me realize my thoughts were well founded. Hen ever seemed to give youth it's head and as I said some of his substitutions and tactical ideas baffled my but I believe his dismissal is the only hope we have of staying in this division. we all know that if we lost today he would have to go and being honest it was one of the worst displays I have seen this season from a Barnsley team I also believe that most supporters know even now whoever gets the job it is going to be an uphill task. I would rather go down playing some of the young players and look forward to the future, as long as we see fight and heart on the pitch the majority of loyal supporters will always be their, long live Barnsley fc and thank you for making Saturday special for me all these years
I agree with you that it is an uphill battle now - just because a new guy is coming in doesn't mean the season is saved - we will remain long odds against to stay up for the forseeable. That's why I would prefer a bloke to be appointed with an eye on at least a medium term plan - no point saying long term - long term in football means 3-4 years and it is rare that it happens. That is why I wouldn't be keen at all to see a Megson type short term appointment with a view to playing it ugly to keep us up - because if he fails to do so, which is more likely than not, the ugly **** we will have seen in trying will have turned another few thousand off the future in League 1. If we are to go down, which I still think is likely, then I would like us to go down with some hope of a brighter future.
