my washing machine has just started leaking....

    The hose was the first thing I checked. Unfortunately, it seems to be fine :'(

    Just one more thing then.

    Does the outlet hose drop into a standing pipe? Sometimes it gets partially blocked and backs up during emptying especially if you have a dishwasher trying to use it at the same time.

    There's no dishwasher involved. Being no expert, I'm going to call a plumber. They're substantially cheaper than in the UK - a tenner is usually more than enough to sort most problems out! Cheers for the advice though.
