Thing is thereev they don't ban them they demote them to the lower leagues which i've always found strange, that's like saying it's ok to make mistakes at so called lesser teams cos they arnt as important.
Shame City didnt pull it back at the end - I would have loved to see the game go one ( though I know there isnt extra time in this one) For a game where I didnt really care about the outcome I was much more hooked on it than I expected
Yeah me too mate, I'd have looked forward to the replay and I think city deserved one, I nearly switched over At half time cos I thought it was game over .
Re: But who wants to be a ref nowadays? I have a real empathy with (most) refs - I believe they are genuinely trying their best and their every move is scrutinised, over and over again from every angle in the big games. They get paid buttons compared to the people they are trying to control and yet get abuse from every direction. The F.A. is now having major problems trying to bring through decent referees. If it goes on like this there will not be enough referees around to officiate through the 4 leagues. Without referees there wll be NO game. Give them a break. Alternatively (or in addition) , take a read of Perluigi Collina's autobiography "Rules of the Game" - it gives you a great insight into the sacrifices top referees make and the training, assessments they have to undertake. But hey, The Reev, I'm not entitled to make such comments because I know nothing about the game living in Canada - never seen a game, never read a footy magazine or read any books on the subject.
Err how have you got time to have such knowledge on the game when you've so much washing cooking and ironing to do. Heehee!
Re: But who wants to be a ref nowadays? You are probably correct. Maybe the answer is to slow down the game, by playing with a proper ball - not a balloon. When I played with Aldershot in the 60's most of our players could hardly get the ball in the air sufficiently to get in a header from a corner.
