Of Barnsley players, from the year you began watching the reds. Like the 'best XI' threads we've done a thousand times, but this time a 'best squad'. Only rules being, there must be two keepers in there and you must have seen them in the flesh. I'll do mine after I've devoured this plate full of pork chops, chips and peas. You Reds.
This is my Barnsley favourites 23 man squad, rather than 'best' as that is subjective. Goalkeepers: Heinz Muller, Luke Steele; Defenders: John Stones, Mick McCarthy, Pat Howard, David Booth, Neil Cooper, Eric Winstanley, Gerry Taggart, Paul Futcher; Midfielders: Ronnie Glavin, Neil Redfearn, Craig Hignett, Paddy McCourt, Darren Barnard, Bobby Doyle, Conor Hourihane, Ian Banks; Forwards: Mick Butler, Ashley Ward, Trevor Aylott, David Hirst, David Geddis.

I've been drinking. But I do know everyone gets a point off for not naming Butterfield in their squads. Which reminds me, I ought to post my own squad..........
When I began this task, I was determined to do it properly, so my team will be playing in a 4-4-2 formation. There are two players for every position and 3 goalkeepers, just like in a world cup squad. In midfield, the players must be equally adept at attacking and working hard to get the ball back when out of possession. Up front, for balance, I always like my teams in this formation to have a target man and a striker. I was determined not to pick anyone out of position, so where the team is weak, which it is at left back, left midfield and right midfield, I have not moved a favourite from his natural position. My squad is as follows: Goalkeepers David Watson Heinz Muller Luke Steele Right Back Nicky Eaden John Stones Left Back Stuart Gray Darren Barnard Central Defence Mick McCarthy Arjan De Zeeuw Paul Futcher Carl Tiler Right Midfield Alan Birch Steve Loundes Left Midfield Ian Banks Owen Archdeacon Centre Midfield Craig Hignett Ronnie Glavin Neil Redfern Steve Agnew Forwards Ashley Ward Neil Shipperley David Hirst John Hendrie
