Reading todays Chronicle about Linton Brown there's a part that reads, early negotiations for naming rights of Oakwell have taken placed as previously stated by Ben Mansford. Its the first I've heard of it.Where as it been mentioned before.

"More money-making opportunities arrive next summer with the ending of the current contracts with the club’s kitmaker" - They've only just taken it over!

There's been odd speculation about it. I think it will be met with mixed reviews.

I however feel that the club should sell the naming rights to the stadium. I imagine it will bring in a fair wedge in terms of revenue. And lets face it, the stadium will always get called Oakwell regardless of whatever sponsor gets the rights. I still call the CK Beckett stand, the Ponte End, and will always know our home stadium to be called Oakwell, regardless of whether it's called the ASOS arena, Biffa Bins stadium or Pukka Pie Park.

Justsports has been our kit supplier for the past 3 seasons.

My thoughts exactly. It'll always be Oakwell to me. If we can cash in on a sponsor, then why not.

It's a shame Oakwell Brewery closed down - they'd have been ideal sponsors for the stadium!

Justsports are the kit supplier, they are a licensed Nike supplier but Avec is their own brand so could switch in the final year of the contract

Didn't realise Linton Brown was an ex-pro. I'm personally fine with naming rights. Barnsley fans will still call it Oakwell. My only ask is that it would be an ethical company, and one that doesn't make us sound stupid.

I'm completely against for sentimental reasons, I wouldn't want it to be called anything else!

Prime example I didn't know Oldham was called the sports direct so call what ever stadium till other Tuesday. Oakwell will always be call Oakwell to home and away fans.

I'd hate it. Maybe if we were a fan owned break even club I'd feel differently.

Should we sell the club's soul though just to reduce our underwritten losses

what sentiment though? where does oakwell actually refer to the name oakwell anywhere in the stadium, for that matter? not much. it's a historic thing and for me, naming rights wouldn't make that history disappear as long as the fans still keep the tradition going. but we'd be £££ better off. i get the reasons why people object, it just doesn't bother me as much i guess
