Wow I love that (from BBC): Barnsley striker Daniel Nardiello is also expected to be included for Wales' double-header at Cardiff's Millennium Stadium on 7 and 11 October. The Coventry-born player has been reluctant to commit himself to Wales, but he now looks set to follow in his father's footsteps by pulling on the red shirt. Was he holding out for England?
From Our Site BARNSLEY star Daniel Nardiello is in line for a shock call up to the Wales squad for next months international double header against Slovakia and Cyprus despite not kicking a ball in anger this season, according to the BBC. BBC Sport reports: West Brom striker John Hartson is expected to be named in the Wales squad on Monday for next month's Euro 2008 qualifiers against Slovakia and Cyprus. Hartson, 31, retired from Wales duty in February, but made himself available again last month for emergencies. And with doubts over Ryan Giggs' fitness and Wales' poor scoring record in recent games, manager John Toshack must look at every possible option. Fellow Baggie Jason Koumas is also set for a recall after proving his fitness. The midfielder was left out of the squad for the Group D opener with the Czech Republic earlier this month, because he had missed pre-season training while holding out for a move from West Brom to Cardiff. Following the collapse of that transfer, Koumas has since committed himself to the Baggies by signing a new contract. He made his first start this season in Tuesday's Carling Cup second-round win over Cheltenham. Barnsley striker Daniel Nardiello is also expected to be included for Wales' double-header at Cardiff's Millennium Stadium on 7 and 11 October. The Coventry-born player has been reluctant to commit himself to Wales, but he now looks set to follow in his father's footsteps by pulling on the red shirt. Nardiello, though, has not played at all this season after breaking his collarbone in pre-season, but the 23-year-old returned to full training last week and should be up to full fitness in time for Wales' must-win matches. Hartson last played for Wales in the 1-0 friendly defeat to Cyprus in November last year and then announced his shock retirement a few months later. His subsequent move from Celtic to West Brom prompted a change of heart, which was welcomed by Toshack. Hartson made a dream start to his West Brom career with two goals on his debut, but the goals have since dried up and an ankle injury kept him out of contention for Tuesday's Carling Cup tie. Wales have also found goals hard to come by lately, managing just four in their six games this year. Good luck to Nardiello and i hope it means we can sell him for Flinders money one day lol.
