Very disappointing since his return, looks to have lost a yard of pace and the work rate he put in at the end of last season has gone altogether. Got away once down the left in 1st half then checked back & lost it, last season he'd have gone straight for goal and no-one would have caught him.
I have to agree - end of last season he looked like a different player and I put that down to good management from Davey. That's the main reason I've felt comfortable enough about him coming back, now I'm not convinced it's for the best. The hunger just isn't there.
Needs to employ his personal trainer from last season to sharpen him up, along with a kick up the arse from SD!!
I'm suprised with him today He usually performs when it matters, and today it mattered. Playing against our local rivals, two places against Liverpool up for grabs due to Macken been cup-tied. Saying that, I think his work rate has been good since he came back, other than today of course.
I'm not surprised at all though to be fair it was the midfield which failed today (and I thought Hassle had a decent game)
he looks like a smack rat to me. lost loads of weight. slim jim or what? idle, luxury if you ask me. send on the battering ram odejayo.
Bar the goal against The Baggies he's been poor. He contributed nothing today, he needs to employ that fitness trainer again.
He looks exactly the same as he ever was to me Some people have this weird memory of Nardiello being a consistent quality player. He never was. He's as inconsistent and infuriating now as he's always been. If we play him in every match until the end of the season he'll have a few good games, score a few goals, and have half a dozen matches where he looks utter *****. It's always been thus.
Much improved and totally different player under Davey, allegedly. All opinions courtesy of J Coachman (footballing fountain of all knowledge).

Never consistent but the closest he got to it was at the back end of last season, and it's impossible to deny that had a significant bearing on keeping us up. Birmingham, Palace, Southend were some of the best games I've seen him play, not just for the goals but for chasing down, getting involved in the build-up etc. It feels to me that when Danny is 'trying' (OK, hard to define) it's the only way he gets into the positions to score goals. If he isn't in the mood, that split second decision is often wrong (sees him offside or stand watching while defender wins the ball), and he is criticized for being lazy (fairly IMHO). The question is - what caused that? Is he just a form/confidence player? Is it fitness related? Is it contract related? Does he have seasonal affective disorder? Thing is, we've signed him 4 times by 4 different managers, and I'm still fcked if I know1 I'd hoped it was Davey-related at the end of last year, but a less than dynamic return would suggest this is not the case.
since their return in Jan Nardiello, 1 in 8 (1 goal to every 8 games) Macken, 2 in 7 (1 goal to every 3.5 games) You're argument doesn't stand up mate, but I understand you point - neither is prolific at the moment and Macken never has been, for all his additional qualities. We still need a goalscorer.
RE: Much improved and totally different player Davey has made a difference to him, in that he puts him on the pitch rather than the bench. You either accept that he is an in-and-out player who will come good and get you a glut of important goals if you stick with him or get shut altogether. In much the same way as Michael Owen, he needs plenty of games before you get the best out of him.
