I don't want anything ridiculous, I work for Morrisons so think on. Summat between £250 and £400. Sound from the speakers on this is now distorted, yet fine with headphones in. Bizarre. Plus, I've had it a few years now and fancy an upgrade. Treat mi sen etc. Any advice would be appreciated. Cheers. Andy.
Had a Toshiba and a Packard Bell, both around £2-300 mark, both cracking laptops. Had a Dell around the same price, it was a crock of ***** and died on me just after the warranty expired. Atm got a Packard Bell Tech11HC at the minute. Had it a couple of years, decent for the money.
Started using Dell stuff at work, spot on. These is for home use http://www.dell.com/uk/p/laptops.aspx?c=uk&l=en&s=dhs&~ck=mn#!facets=111726~0~1780113&p=1
I'd spotted one of those on Curry's website earlier, was impressed, but put off by the name as I'd never heard of em. But if they're old IBM then they know their ****. Appreciate the responses, will have to do a bit of research on em all etc, see where I end up. I was originally thinking Dell, so EN's link is useful. Archey's post not so much.
Seeing as you like putting videos together Whitey, try and get something with at least an i5 processor, should be able to get one at the higher end of your price range and it will make a big difference. At least 4gb of RAM as well although I think that is usually the standard minimum these days anyway.
Had a toshiba off these for £250 at Christmas from these guys http://www.airedalecomputers.org.uk/acr/ Brand new, and working well. They also do reconditioned if you're wanting a higher spec?
Went through this recently missen. Bloke from IT recommended this and been impressed with it. Key thing he said was get one with SSHD. http://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/comput...ible-touchscreen-laptop-red-10109033-pdt.html
I've got a Lenovo G500 and the mouse/keyboard have got a mind of their own. It continually flicks up options you don't want and types unwanted characters i.e. CCCCBarnsley when using Shift. A very frustrating laptop to use.
Check this website to find out how good a processor is on something you want to buy. You find that sometimes some i3s perform better than i5s. I was holding out for an i5 processor before I found this site. https://www.cpubenchmark.net/
All recent Lenovo builds have included some ad-inserting nasty into the browser. This is a big security issue that was only made public in the last week or so. If you get a Lenovo, you might want to re-install Windows (or Linux) before you use it for anything.
Got this un misen... http://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/comput...3541!&ef_id=U4hnDAAABGSGxBF9:20150226192346:s
I've got a Dell summat or other - bang on for the first few years but now so slow it goes backwards. I even paid an extra £100 for memory. I only use it for updating iTunes and I use the iPad for everything else.
