    Apparently I have a problem:

Primary IDE Controller (dual fifo) hdc
This device has a problem: Code 10 (0xA)

WTF does that lot mean, apart from the fact that it (the computer) thinks I don't have any cd rom thingies at all!

    Any help GREATLY appreciated.

    OOBLY DOOOOOOOOOOOO.

When exactly do you get this error message?

    Look in the Control Panel.
Go into System and then Device Manager (may be under "Hardware" depending on OS version)

If DVD/CD drives is listed, click on the plus sign to expand.
Right click each listed drive and uninstall it.

    Then reboot the PC.
    This often clears code 10's.

    No joy with that one.

Anything else I could do or try before it goes to the 'puter shop repair man?

    Cheers.

    I have some possibles.

But I', off to match now. If it can wait till, say 6.30 tonight I'll try and help.
Go into device manager and get the make and model of the IDE Controller in the meantime if you would.
