Great idea, but it's a tourist hot spot so you lose the authenticity of German football. It's just full of pissed up Brits thinking it's "cool" to support Dortmund. Not for me.
I went to Schalke's ground last season, and stood in there kop for last game of season. Was a great experience, even considering they didnt sing for the whole first half, in protest of the season. The whole day was fantastic, better than any English game I've attended
I visited Schalke last season too. Great atmosphere and very friendly fans. They were a credit to their club.
This quote says it all to me If I think about the Atmosphere you used to get in the Ponte and the Paddock when I first went in the '70's or the Atmosphere on the Kop at Anfield when l was a student in the early '80's - and even as a student I could afford to go I cant remember how much it was per game but something like £2 I think Now compare with this also about Anfield - http://www.theanfieldwrap.com/2015/...-john-w-henry-about-liverpool-season-tickets/ English football has lost its reason for existance and replaced it with money and its very sad
I've done the stadium tour, not my idea but I went along anyway. I'm just repeating the general consensus of most who go over expecting something magical and come home disappointed.
Must have been at the ground from around 1300 till 2000, for a 1530 kick off. Bars kept open, food kiosks kept open. The supporters bar was still rammed hours after the game. The whole atmosphere was better than anything I have seen in 25 years of following football. Def cant wait to go back
Next time you go, if you come out of Gelsenkirchen Hbf and turn right, there's like an abandoned warehouse which has been turned in to a supporters club. We were drinking and playing football in there before the game.
