One off cup game - might as well. No point playing defensive to try and keep the score down. That said, haven't seen the game, so don't know if we were defensive for the sake of it or because we had to.
look pal when your 1-0 down in a knock-out cup comp, even mike bassett can see you need 2 up front! that were a reight wise dicision to put a midget up front on his own toneet werent it then my oh so learned freind! i think not now dont you eh?
I find jumping to conclusions without knowing the full facts rather silly. A 2-0 defeat away from home to Premiership club with 6 changes from Saturday is a creditable result. Well done you reds.....
WE were negative Playing 1 up front on his own. It dont matter if we lost 20-0 or 2-0 a loss is still a loss, but by trying to attack we might get a goal and therefore maybe win , but playing the way we did just accepted the fact we were going to lose. Maybe your mate did say that we were doing well, but we did not do well enough to get any shots in and make the keeper work, Newcastle could have upped the tempo at any time, but didnt need to.
Aye perhaps a game like this Would have been a massive morale boost ahead of a crucial league game. Sometimes I cant get my breath. Ritchie's 'attack all' policyi I was there at that game, that night
It was appalling and so embarassing we were a total laughing stock

Davey went up to Newcastle with a gameplan.
It was cautious and he obviously wanted to see another system in place and how the players would react and play within that system.
From listening to the commentary we did well and rattled their cages good and proper.
I applaud him. We were never going to win this game in a million years and Newcastle have spent millions let's not forget.
Davey will have learned so much more about HIS players and how they perform

Fact , if we lost 4-0 5- 6- 0 the moaners on here would have moaned about the thrashing , 'just before an important league game' davey could never winn tonight some of our fans can Never BE HAPPY..WHY ?? Davey is starting to make an impact yet still we hace 'SUPPORTERS' who will not give 100% to the team Take a look at a certain old gent who was a guest at our ground on saturday , who enjoyed it , yes every minute. Yes moan if you want , but just moan to yourselves because people like me who attended in the 70 s with crowds od 2000 feel this club is going into the right direction with a good young manager.
Didnt we hit the post at 1-0 down Sure I remember the Newcastle commentators mentioning in passing that McCann had hit the post, and wasnt their second goal handball. Not at the game and only had a newcastle based commentary but we didnt sound too bad
im sorry but that's nonsense Had we lost 8-0 it would have been crushing on the teams morale, this has an added importance I would have thought considering that it is a new bunch of players playing together. We've lost 2-0 to a strong prem side - and put up a decent account. Surely we can take some positives out of that compared to a heavy defeat?
all im saying is it would have been a worthwhile exercise to give kim a run wy mossto for 15-20 mins after we were 1-0 down, surely you can see the positives in that?
