Negatives Failed to sort out a CB Only 2 Full backs brought in Not much depth, need alot of luck with injuries to challenge. Too many Loans Positives Moved on alot of rubbish Every signing looks an upgrade Kept our best players Conor has had alot of input and control
Definitely a quality not quantity approach. Would've been easy to sign a striker who's just not up to it. They've waited for the right one but not got one over the line. Not sure if that's a good or bad thing! We were talking about Marley Watkins on this board a few days ago. Agreed that he wasn't the best option. But would he have improved the squad as its ended up? Probably.
Having said that, we're going with DKD and McGoldrick up front. That's really good at this level. When Jalo's back we'e got 6 options for those front 3 positions. Not sure how good Farrugia, Jalo and Cleary will end up but they've all shown some glimpses - time will tell!
Wouldn't class a young lad on loan from Derby with 12 league 1 appearences coming off the back of serious injuries the calibre of upgrade to sort out our defence, not trying to knock the lad, just had hoped in 86 days we'd have prioritised a CB with more games under his belt.
Very few of us have seen him play so how can we say he isn’t an upgrade? I’ve not seen anything of him or noticed him much before, but there are two people at the club who have. One is the manager, and the other is DMcG. I’m sure they played a big part in the decision to sign him so if they rate him I’ll take that. A loan deal’s also ideal because it’s a low risk option with his injury record.
Stop talking sheite, everyone knows the bbs know far more about football than those who make a very good living out of it
It was always going to be a big ask to overhaul such a bloated squad in a single transfer window. Personally, I think we’ve done well — made some good signings and moved on a fair bit of the deadwood. There’s still work to do, but we’re in a stronger position than I expected at the start of the summer, and crucially, we’ve kept hold of our key players. We now have a solid squad to attack the first half of the season, and with a bit more strengthening in the next window, we should be in even better shape.
I've no idea whether he's any good etc, but we've one CB who's young but doing great as in Shepherd, Earl who can be inconsistent, MDG not good enough and Roberts injured. It's not about judging Jake Rooney at this point in his career, but we needed a CB with a decent turn of pace with a decent level of experience at this level. I was asking for us to bring one in at the end of last season. We haven't adressed a key position, should have been the first signing through the door. I raised concerns in the first transfer window June 1st - June 10th that good free signings were being snapped up by other clubs but was told there was loads of time and we were waiting for the right signing.
Other negatives are not managing to move Nwakali on and wasting the opportunity to get some money for Russell as he's miles off the team and depreciating in value at a rapid rate
