Really does urinate me off to see folks moaning yet again when we have seen the Reds turn in what sounds like an 'ok' performance at one of the well-funded, best footballing teams in the division. ''Will we sell season tickets now? Why cant we buy players like Portsmouth? Why do we always collapse after mid-season?....... etc etc...''
I'll tell you what - Hillcroft are rebuilding the team and club without ANY money (that's right, they have virtually no money at all folks....) and are, at the same time, keeping the club in the Championship ready for next season, reducing wages commensurate with the club's income problems, trying to blend youth players into the squad, trying to entertain and at the same time having to fend off dog poo from sections of the fanbase that want instant Barcelona on no money.....

Keep it coming Keith... keep us up this year and we'll make a go of it next year!!! I for one will definitely be renewing my season ticket.

    Cheers

It would be nice to hear some backing for the manager and a view of the future from Pat Crynne

At times not like watching Brazil I agree, but we had the heart ripped out of the team after Leeds. The Reds have still played some good stuff in fits and starts and I'm encouraged overall. With players he has to get on the cheap Hill is still doing a good job. I cannot see that Robins or Davey would have been able to turn out teams like Hill has and still have 40+ points...

It's probably something to do with today's match being the 12th loss in 17 games, the fact that we've lost the last 5 away games (failing to score in 4 of them) and we've lost all our most creative players. It's hardly been a joy to watch the team since the Leeds match, the list of dire performances is a lot longer than the list of good performances.

I think its whether or not you can see what the manager's trying to do.... I'd like to think I can. I seem to think that you cant

but you have to add some balance

yes there is too much negativity on the board from some posters
But its a football forum - its difficult to put a positive spin on losing 5 sucessive away games for the first time in ages and the fact that we didnt manage a shot on target today

True we were playing one of the best sides in the league but on a football discussion forum you cant ignore the fact that since we lost Vas Te and Drinkwater we have been playing with relegation form. Fortunately we have done enough in the first half of the season to be hopefully safe this season

My problem on here is there are a vociferous minority in both camps - both unduly negative and unduly positive which make it almost impossibe to have a sensible discussion on the good and bad points on any performance or the clubs current position.

You cant ignore the fact that we currently are shipping goals and not scoring
but you also have to acknowledge we have also had good spells this season

Yes, they've not been as fluid as a unit if that's what you mean. However, even with big player losses they are still moving the club forward in my opinion. Young lads are also being given a chance which augurs well.... The main thing is staying up in my opinion, not the points total. Should he achieve safety with the cutbacks and losses he has had to endure I will think even more highly of Hill.

We do ship goals I agree... Hill will know it. I also think we're not penetrating enough at the moment too. I also have my views on certain players as we all do... However, I stand by my main point - the management team are moulding a decent side with no money and they should therefore be encouraged as much as possible, especially in the close season when hopefully Hill will have his antenna out!!!

Moulding a decent side . . . . not entirely sure what that is based on. After the Leeds game I would have agreed with you wholeheartedly. But now? I'm not sure where we are going.
    Way I see it:

Keeper - not bad, conceding issues rarely his fault.

Defence - major problems. Can't stop conceding and haven't since about October. Far to easy to get through the back line. Clearly some sort of problem with Hassell who seems to be our only defender who can defend. May need to overhaul it all in the summer.

Midfield - Butterfield and Drinkwater were major losses clearly, and have basically shown us that the jury must still be out on his other signings in midfield. Gouldbourne, Done, Dagnall et al, not convinced at a championship level. Digby will be a quality player for us, just hope we can keep him.

Forward - Davies will score plenty, given some service. God help us if he gets injured or leaves.

it didnt really sound like an 'ok performance to me,maybe for the first half hour, but after that no,,even the commentators appologised to keith hill incase he was listening because they had nothing positive to say..... the football league show also said we never looked like bothering southampton,,
