Why does it appear on here as if the majority of fans are only happy when moaning or having a go? Where having our best season for ages, I’d like to think if Butterfield wasn’t injured then we’d still have Vaz Te and maybe Drinkwater if results where going the way they where, we could have had a chance of the top 6. What we need is investment, and a way to attract investment is for fans to not have the attitude of most on here. But things happen and suddenly it’s all negative, in fact some where negative when we where having a good run. Only think some will be happy if we are mid table in league 1, only to say I told you so….. Players and Keith Hill obviously read this forum so no idea what they make of all the crap what’s said….
Best season for ages, you make it sound like we have moved on as a club. attendences are plummeting, the squad is being drowned out with unproven 3rd and 4th division players, the manager continuosly slates the fans, always saying we are lucky to be in this division and is more negative than most posters on here. Im only following Mr Hills example.
A way to attract investment would be for our board to be actively seeking investment, instead of doing nothing and hoping someone will just get in touch with us wanting to invest.
BFC income streams #1 Ticket sales - entirely reliant on the success of the team.... which is almost entirely reliant on the income the club brings in... #2 merchandise ... oh hang on that's been franchised out. #3 Beer sales ... oh hang on, that's been franchised out. #4 Food sales ... oh hang on, that's been franchised out. So effectively, BFC is existing on ticket sales , which are rubbish. On what he has got, Keith Hill is doing a great job, but show me anywhere in the club where there is room for growth or optimism? If we had any kind of scope for marketing that would be a start, but it seems to me we are gambling on coming up with young kids (commendable), and getting lucky with lower division signings. Let's not kid ourselves, we have struck gold with teams going into admin, and good bargain basement buys. Is that a sound development plan? I'd be happier if the club was taking the whole situation by the scruff of the neck and trying to engage its community to the ground to buy food, come to the ground early, feel part of the club, wear the shirt with pride etc. Instead,. my room for optimism lies at the feet of Digby and Rose. I'll back the lot of them tomorrow, but I do fear for our future.
I work in brand marketing, and the general trend there is the same. Those with negative opinions generally make the most noise or have the highest motivation to publicise an opinion. Anyone with half a brain realises that this board is not necessarily a typical view of all Barnsley fans. Merely those with the time and inclination to crow about their objections.
