And people think we are bad not signing any players yet. If this is their squad they are really going to struggle. http://www.scarboroughfc.com/squad/index.php
well he certainly won't be at Scarboro' !!
Chairman's statement
14/6/2006
Response to press article
Scarborough FC chairman Ian Scobbie has made the following statement to scarboroughfc.com:
"I have seen the article in the Scarborough Evening News regarding the club’s financial position, as portrayed to them by Neil Redfearn. If the statements are genuinely attributed to the manager (and I have not been contacted by the Evening News for clarification) then I am very disappointed for several reasons.
"Firstly, it is no great secret that the club is struggling financially, but matters are not as bad as Neil makes out.
"We do indeed have some short-term cash flow problems, caused by the fact that we have only recently been able to start selling season tickets and advertising and sponsorship packages due to the uncertainty about which league we would be in and also due to the fact that the Nationwide Conference, despite having initially promised that we would receive the usual end-of-season payment of £15,000, now appear to have withheld that amount without any explanation. The club’s finances have not been helped by a considerable overspend on players’ wages in the latter part of the season.
"Secondly, on a personal level, the first thing I did when I took over the chairmanship was to make it abundantly clear that I would stand by Neil despite a record which would have cost any other manager his job, and I also resisted many calls for his dismissal at the recent fans forum.
"Finally, on a professional level, Neil’s comments to the press constitute a breach of the terms of his contract of employment, and Malcolm Reynolds and I will be meeting in the course of the week to discuss what sanctions will be imposed for that breach.
"I recently made a call to the people of Scarborough to support the club financially in difficult times, and have been very heartened by the response we have received as season ticket sales are going well and our relegation does not appear to have affected the demand for advertising and sponsorship packages. Traditionally, it is only through the income generated in that way that the club has been able to make ends meet during the close season, and I would urge all fans and local businesses to keep supporting the club financially, so that we can make ends meet."

kiss of death !!
Scobbie confirms Redfearn backing
7/6/2006
Boro chief in vote of confidence
At tonight's fans forum, Boro chairman Ian Scobbie vowed to stand by manager Neil Redfearn.
With some fans venting anger at the way performances had gone towards the end of the 2005/06 campaign, Scobbie, who recently took over from Malcolm Reynolds as chairman, confirmed Redfearn would start the 2006/07 season in charge.
"Neil will start with a blank canvas," he said. "He knows mistakes have been made but he wants to put it right. He also knows that if he doesn’t his job is on the line. I’d ask the fans to back Neil."

what Redders said
REDFEARN IN WAGES FURY

BORO player-manager Neil Redfearn has blasted the club over the non-payment of wages.

Redfearn and other players and staff have not been paid for the past two months – one of the worst periods in the club's history on and off the pitch with Boro being relegated into Conference North and docked 10 points by the league ahead of next season because of financial problems. Redfearn fumed: "Things are getting ridiculous now. None of the players who were released have been paid, while all of the staff are owed two months and my assistant manager Eric Winstanley is owed three months. "I have been advised by the League Manager's Association and the PFA not to bring any more players in until this is sorted out. "You just can't work in this sort of situation because the word has got out now. "Any player you talk to asks you straight away if the wages are being paid at the club. "A player turned us down last week to sign for Blyth Spartans, which is just embarrasing for the club." He added: "Players can't go for two or three months without being paid – some of them have mortgages and young families. "I'm not sure what I'm going to do. I've discovered that I can sue the club for 12 months pay because it is a breach of my contract, but I don't want it to come to that. "I want happy players and things to be on a level playing field – when people are not being paid that is not going to happen. "We desperately need to sign players because we start pre-season in three weeks, but that isn't going to happen as things stand."

14 June 2006
