Two questions actually. Is there any reason why a cat 5e cable can't be used with a cat6 connector?

And the main question. In our office at work we have a load of internet connections in the skirting board. They're single sockets with two modular rj45 sockets in them. About 90% of them have come out so they're either hanging out of the socket or are pushed back in. Is there a stronger more robust replacement that we can get?

re cat 5 and cat 6. Yes they are comparable. Cat 5 has a lower bandwidth that’s all so the connection will run at cat 5 speeds

and you have poor quality sockets decent ones don’t fall apart

They’re compatible. The only real difference between Cat 5e and Cat 6 is the quality of the cable. Essentially Cat 6 uses thicker copper.

As far as the socket question goes, sounds like maybe they’re just cheap sockets. Everyone uses those sockets so i wouldn’t really suggest an alternative, just maybe get some better quality ones.

Cheers gents. My guess is it's because the sockets are ancient and just need replacing with new ones. I bet that ends up being my job

So your issue is that the b7 dongle only works with J7 female/trans bi-connections. I don't know why they didn't go with the usual male/female one, but modern burification of wireless intersex connections means the interloped dingle-dongle is no longer relevant to dog-6 verification certificates.

Great thread, but I prefer plumbing.
