Said the same, don't matter who we appoint, still the lowest budget in the league to work with, still dwindling attendances, still no new fresh income/sponsorship into the club. I drive past Elland Rd to go to work everyday, l know they're a massive club compared to ours and now in the hands of the Arabs but new sponsorships going up on the stand's everyday. This morning l noticed on the back of their kop "Monarch Airlines - Proud Partners of Leeds United". Its a little bit different to "Woody's Chippy - Best chippy in tarn" Suppose they can attract that type of sponsorship due to location, size, history but Dean Hoyle seems to be pulling in the big companies - Panasonic, John Smith's etc. I doubt though we look past the ends of our nose's.
Ah well that'd take some initiative. Instead we hide behind 'ooh it'll cost' and sit under our desks with our fingers in our ears pretending it's all okay cos the facebook page gets a lot of hits.
Hope all those who ranted on for Hill to be sacked will be happy with whoever is desperate enough to take the job.
Re: Hope all those who ranted on for Hill to be sacked Come on Steve. Regardless of what you think of the situation at the club, it was clear that Keith was hopelessly out of his depth, notwithstanding how difficult it is to operate under the circumstances. Robins and to an extent your mate both managed it.
The short term view of sacking managers every 18 months is the main reason I've just given up. I would have taken relegation if it meant building something more long term. With Rowing running the show, I can pretty much guarantee the appointment will be monumentally underwhelming. Not renewed, not going as much, simply not bothered.
Re: The short term view of sacking managers every 18 months Yes, but this isn't the time to shed tears over not giving him longevity. Stability is only going to work if the right man is in place - if the person in charge is clearly a cretin then you're just going to continue to fall. The time to get upset about short termism was in the loss of people like Thordarsson, Ritchie, Robins and to a lesser extent Davey.
Oh, there's no doubt that relegation will be Hills fault so whoever gets the job will have a ready made excuse. But I've zero faith in Rowings ability to see beyond what he wants to hear in an interview so whoever says "I can get us going on the least money" will get the job. Im assuming here that Cryne has abdicated any responsibility for the selection. The reason why Hill was so unpopular is because in his admittedly abrasive manner he gave us an insight into how f.kng impossible and chaotic it is to work as Barnsley manager. Would it have been worth seeing the season out with him - imho yes, if only because he had a longer term view and a track record in League 1. Lets see who we get and compare their respective records in League 1. (add to favourites).
it doesn't matter who gets the job we are getting relegated. however if blackwell or megson get the job you can chalk off an extra 2000 fans through the gate.
I hear what you're both saying But you had me at "hello". Can't you settle this with a game of sticky biscuit?
Re: I'd like to hear from I'll give him a buzz. I think he's busy booking his European Tour tickets for 2014. I think you should give your mate Gord a ring & put in a good word for me. I bet he still has afternoon tea with Patsy Cryne, when he's not taking legal action against people. #TFPforBFC
Re: The short term view of sacking managers every 18 months But what signs were there that Hill was actually building anything that would have come to fruition? Easy to pLay against and a habit of losing.
Re: The short term view of sacking managers every 18 months I think it's exciting. For some reason, I've got more behind the boys since our backs I've been against the wall. I live just outside of hull and all their fans think we're a Mickey Mouse club going down. I've got to defend myself day in, day out.
