as they jog in to bowl and then as they are about to release the ball they hesitate and wait for the batsman to commit.Just not cricket in my opinion.
Unfortunately not got Sky at work so will have to make do with the highlights tonight. Not often I want South Africa to win but ....
There doing nothing wrong JT. People do things in different ways and it's the same with bowling in cricket.
It's horrible to watch and a form of cheating in my opinion. Like footballers who stop in their run up when taking a penalty.
Dont see the issue myself, batsman can move where they want. Think its highly skilled to be able to bowl a ball after stopping your action.
Fair enough it is all about opinions but i just dont like it. On the batting front i would outlaw the switch hit. (a right handed bowler cannot bowl left handed but a right handed basman can bat left handed)
No different to batsmen altering their stance and creating some room either side just as it's bowled.
We've had spinners that do that. Robert Croft springs to mind. Mind you, he could never spin the ball anyway.
they have outlawed the switch hit , a batsman must not change his hand position now , he can stand and hit it however he wishes just as a bowler can pause.... fair play to them that are able enough to.
Have they, thought they'd concluded the opposite and allowed it as long as the batsman didn't move too early? "In June 2012, the International Cricket Council (ICC) committee declared it to be a legitimate shot. They issued a statement saying they have decided to make no change to the current regulations" Has this changed?
im happy to be corrected, im sure i read that the KP switch hit where he switched hands and effectivally stood left handed was deemed as unfair to the bowler and outlawed but a reverse hit where hands stay in the same position was ok.. il look it up later !!
Its definitely allowed now and I dont think it was ever banned though there was some debate by the umpires and I think different Umpires had different views http://www.internationalcrickethall.com/switching-hitting-to-stay-a-part-of-cricket/ I must admit if Batsmen are allowed to change their stance I dont have a problem with a bowler pausing in his delivery so he has time to adapt his line accordingly
I'm pretty sure they haven't. I recall the debate but it wasn't outlawed. as for the o.p. if you're good enough to delay your action and bowl fair play. A batsman can raise his hand and step away from the crease and the umpire call dead ball if he wants. I'm also for moving around the crease as a batsman or switch hitting, you often see bowlers not deliver if the batsman goes too early.
