    A worse debut than Mido's!

First he falls over the ball, then that ridiculous lunge that richly deserved the red card. I'm not seeing what Bayern saw when they signed him. That was not a 'professional' footballer's display. On the plus side, Flicker & MelonScott will no doubt want to 'work' on Jennings, and they will not lack for a challenge.

Beyond that, we were outclassed by what was in reality a Premiership team. End of. The real season starts next week.

Said the same in the car on the way home.. then my mate swiftly reminded me of the debut of 'surprise signing' Paul Warhurst.

Dear god, must be the 20th thread I've read with the same daft comments 'dont know what bayern saw in him' Jesus Christ give it a rest he was on the pitch 2 minutes, what did you want? Nutmeg the keeper from 80 yards with a header? Forget and move on.

Funny at the pre season games he looked very tricky, still you saw him for all of 5 minutes.

Jennings fecked up big time today.

But he'll be a good player for us longer term.

So are we writing him off then? Or are we accepting he had a nightmare debut, but he's a young talented lad who made a stupid error trying to make amends for decking it and losing a soft 50/50? He's looked very promising in pre-season... but a poor 5 minute cameo is all that counts right?

Bobby Hassell had a terrible debut and look where he is now!

I concede that may well be so, Mike L. I guess what I'm saying is that I was disappointed today. I think the game was set up for a debutante like DJ to have an impact today....... sadly, it was the wromg sort of impact. Not saying he won't come good in the longer term though (though obviously not for another three games).

Same could be said for a lot of players today, but it's unfair to single Jennings out and to question his ability. He's a class act and will show us all when he gets given an opportunity. He was bought on 2-0 down and Wigan looking very comfortably, and was probably told to go make a name for himself, talk about pressure! I just can't believe you're seriously questioning someone's ability or attributes after being on the pitch 5 minutes, crazy.

Not questioning either on the basis of today, Darfield. Just saying I was disappointed with what I saw. Reminds me quite a bit of Hammill, which has both positive and negative connotations.

Hassell and O'Brien had shocker full first seasons.

Still think harsh red. Both went in stubs up with one foot
