.... I'm not sure I can stand the pressure of the next four games.
At the final whistle on Monday I felt reasonably happy we had the wherewithal to pull off a decent escape. Then the scrapping started, from which we have definitely come off worst, considering they lost a sub and we lost not only one of our best players, butone of our most currently needed players - and perhaps a contender for POTS award.
With the possible loss of Howard and Devaney, we go into an unpredictable finale with vital absences we just don't need. There's no doubt that at times our play was almost breathtakingin the way we mastered Birmingham on Monday, but, any downturn in form, or the loss of vital personnel could be our undoing at the death. There isn't much to go for above us, except perhaps Hull, and if Leeds or Sarfend hit a surge in the next couple of weeks we could be done for. And if Leicester slip again we could conceivably find ourselves in an "us or them for the drop" scenario at the last home game. One thing I am sure of is that whoever wins the clash this Saturday might not stay up, but whoever loses is definitely down.
It's so depressing :'(

Not necessarily. If we win, then it looks really bad for Southend. If they win, they're only a point in front of us, and we still have Leicester and Palace at home.
'One thing I am sure of is that whoever wins the clash this Saturday might not stay up, but whoever loses is definitely down.' So if we lose and Leeds/Hull win ie worst case scemario - we will still have 3 games left of which 2 are home but are 'definatley down' despite being only a point behind both Leeds and Southend? This is the probelm at the minute with such knee jerk comments - it's hard to take spome people serioulsy especially when you get the feeling they were coming out with a 'Eureka moment' whilst typing such 'revelations'. Come on lad get a grip!
Knee jerk? My assumptions are based on the fact that .... our game this weekend is a basement six pointer.
If either team cannot beat the relegation candidate then it's unlikely that they will pick up anything good enough to save them in the little time there is left. No other relegation contender as far as I can see is in such a position between now and the end of season - except Southend who do have Luton - and THERE is where Southend has the edge that we don't.
To reiterate my point, If we lose to Southend, then they play Luton, they are potentially4 points ahead of us with a couple of games to go - which leaves Luton, Leeds and us.
That's all.

Slim chance - they have a difficult few games. If they falter - then yes, but you have to take into account a possible last surge from Leeds, and they have Burnley.
RE: Knee jerk? My assumptions are based on the fact that Barnsley 1 v 0 Brum Brum 0 v 1 Burnley Preston 2 v Southend 3 Portsmouth 1 v Man Utd 0 Watford 4 v Portsmouth 2 Ipswich 5 V 1 Barnsley etc etc tetc - all these results happened last weekend emphasising the unpredictability of football - particulaly when it gets to the business stage of the season. Does that not perhaps put in doubt the certainty you have of, for example, Southend beating Luton? Don't get me a wrong - it will be a blow if we lose but win the next 2 home games and we would be likley to survive. If we had lost to Brum I would have agreed that if Bransley lost at SUFC then it would have been curtains for us.
Nothing I would like better than to believe all that.. ... and I truly hope it happens for us, but if it doesn't, then time will be up. I'm merely saying that the pressure is now on max and I hate these positions. Some find it exciting..... but not me S)
RE: Nothing I would like better than to believe all that.. I know what you are feeling mate - me too. I almost left early v Brum it was that unbearable. It's worse than least season because getting in the play offs didn't guarantee we would get to the final, getting to the final didnt guarantee we would win it. So in a funny sort of way, not getting to the play offs would have at least meant a longer summer without worrying about footy. It's an awful league is Div 1 and the Championship this season - whilst being a struggle - has meant seeing some good teams, good crowds and good stadiums. It's a lot to lose and I reiterate I do share your worries and concerns.
