    MICHAEL Coulson is joining Barnsley.
Cash-strapped Scarborough have released the teenage striker but will be looking for a couple of loan deals from Oakwell next season.
Coulson, aged 18, had a trial at Barnsley last season and impressed manager Andy Ritchie. He has been offered a two-year contract,
Contracts have been signed by both clubs but not exchanged. Ritchie and Scarborough boss Neil Redfearn have yet to name the players who will leave Barnsley temporarily.
Young Barnsley centre-back Robert Atkinson had five months on loan at Conference club Scarborough last year. Midfield player Richard Kell was there briefly too and Redfearn also wanted centre-forward Nathan Jarman last term.
Meanwhile, Barnsley keeper Nick Colgan has been at Oakwell for talks and is considering Barnsley's offer of a new deal but Chris Shuker has not been in contact.
So far, two Barnsley targets have agreed deals elsewhere. Centre-back Steve Foster has gone from Crewe to Burnley. and ex-Manchester United striker Eddie Johnson has agreed a move to Bradford.
Neil Austin has agreed to stay on at Oakwell. He signed a new contract shortly after Antony Kay settled his future at Oakwell.
Barnsley's match at Preston in September has been brought forward to Friday September 22 to be broadcast by Sky TV.
Barnsley have appointed a new academy director in 35-year-old Simon Davey.
Welshman Davey, who held a similar position at Preston North End, was recommend to Barnsley by Everton boss David Moyes.
