    Starts 1st March 2014.

We have received our new timetable, ordered new bins and it all seemed straight forward enough.

Left our bins out as normal this week. Re-cycling week so it was bottles, cans, plastic, paper, cardboard and garden waste. Couldn't remember when the garden one started again but as I'd done some clearing out and it was full I thought I'd put it out as they must be emptying them all before the new system starts.

The garden / cardboard one was left un-emptied.

This evening I've had a look at the refuse section on the council website to find if it should have been emptied or not. Suprise, suprise no information about OLD dates. Plenty about the NEW ones.

This is where the confusion starts........I hope you are paying attention ;)

According to the leaflet our street is now on Friday in WEEK 2.

Grey Bin (general refuse) 7/3/14 then every 2 weeks. (WEEK 2 & 4)

White sack (paper) & Blue bin (cardboard) 14/3/14 then every 4 weeks (WEEK 3)

Brown bin (glass, plastic, cans) 28/3/14 then every 4 weeks (WEEK 1)

Green bin (garden waste) 28/3/14 then every 2 weeks (WEEK 1 & 3)

    This is the councils version

Week 1: garden waste, cardboard, paper
    Week 2: non-recyclable grey-bin waste
Week 3: garden waste, glass, cans, plastic bottles
    Week 4: non-recyclable grey-bin waste

Our official leaflet says garden, plastic, cans, bottles on Week 1, theirs says garden, cardboard, paper.

Week 3...ours says paper cardboard, garden when theirs says plastic, cans, bottles, garden.

    Who do we believe?

    Which instructions do we follow?

Will it be one almighty c0ck-up where everybody just puts all their bins out and hopes for the best?

Or am I just talking rubbish ???

It already is a **** up with the council going back to using bags in a pretty windy country and insisting that emptying the bag once a month is adequate. A newspaper a day plus a chronicle on fridays, plus the weekly independent is around 39 newspapers in the bag and that's without adding all the other paper that should by rights go in there. Good luck finding somewhere in doors to store it and good luck carrying it too. I don't need to worry anyway as mine was last seen heading out towards ward green about 1 minute after it was placed empty in the front garden on a windy day

Green bin has been Cardboard only from start of Dec to end of Feb, if green bin had Garden Waste in then that is why it aint been emptied.

Ours are a different colour. But it matters not. I just lob it all in one bin. Simple.

We're getting our grey bin emptied three weeks in a row due to the changing of the schedules - a one-off occurrence but still ridiculous. Meanwhile the recycling bins will be left for over a month.

Can't help feeling BMBC are hoping we all get so fed up with it that we start taking all our recyclable stuff to the tip or recycling centres. Thing is most won't, they'll just dump it all in the grey bin. Or just dump it.

To be honest, I guessed that (old leaflet lost in that safe place all women put things so you'll know where it is when you need it).

It was just a little anecdote explaining why I was searching the council web site from bin dates ;)

In Barnsley (I assume you're in Barnsley) the green bin has been garden waste all winter and cardboard should have been in I think the brown or blue bin

I got myself a blue bin a few years ago and have been using it for my paper ever since. Now they've resorted back to bags my waste paper is going in the grey bin.

I refer the honourable gentleman to my last post, and have the council literature in front of me at the mo stating that.

Roy Miller in charge........ recipe for a right c0ck up before you start.

So then Roy - how did you work out that in the terraced throngs of Barnsley a garden waste bin needs emptying twice as often as a smaller bin for all the empty white lightning bottles ?

Oh and on top of that.. they didn't work out that there would be an increased demand for blue and brown bins which are now out of stock unitl April - two months after the scheme is launched......

Jesus wept you can't make this up.

I was under the impression that they'd done a U-turn on that and had changed it so that garden waste would still be collected once a month during winter

The white paper bags lasted 1 week on our estate. All blew away. Didn't really think that through
