So, if Conor does go (98%...) who steps in as captain? Davies - never a fan of a keeper captain and don't think he needs any extra pressure. Roberts - good opportunity to step the lad up another notch and a commanding figure McDonald - experience as captain at Torquay but feels a bit soon White/Yiadom - not yet regular or experienced enough IMO Scowen - not a bad shout, busy engine room but doesn't seem to do much shouting/instructing in his game. Thoughts?
Roberts or McDonald for me. Reckon we'll be signing a couple more players with leadership potential ready for next season. Conor wasn't captain straight away - he took it off Mawson.
Scowen first choice then Roberts. You mention Scowen not being that vocal, but I can't really remember Conor being vocal until he took captaincy.
It needs to be someone here long term so they can grow into the role like Conor did. If it's Roberts or Scowen let's try and get them to sign on the dotted line!
Im not a fan of keeper captain. Not in the thick of things. Hecky needs to sit down with Roberts and Scowen seperately and ask if they want to stay. Roberts marshals the defence superbly. Gives Angus instructions non stop. Scowen is a great midfield 'general' so its a toss up for me.
Senior Pro? Hammill? It would mean him being a regular starter though. Otherwise I'd go with Scowen, I've always preferred midfielders to be captain (next best would be centre back, Roberts).
What about Hammill? Not starting atm but maybe it will help him with his temperament if he's to lead by example.
