    Government allows this which flies in the face of their dedication to green energy and to leave coal in the ground.
    Good news for local employment though

    I'm not sure what to think on this one, definitely pulled both ways

    Thanks for that, my in-laws are all in Whitehaven but I hadn't heard about the plans for a new coal mine.

    If you can't beat em' join em'. There are a lot of altruistic idealogists that still want to eat with a knife n' fork, have metal taps on their baths and use public transport made of glass and travel abroad on boats made of dowelling rod n' paper.

    The coal from the new Whitehaven mine is for use in the manufacture of steel not for Power Stations.
