The councils can start by getting rid of all jobs with three titles in them

    Executive outreach coordinator

    Community support officer

    Racial awareness director etc etc

For some strange reason that never happens.

It always seems to be dinner ladies and others further down the scale that bear the brunt.

It's the upside down pyramid syndrome, Fewer people doing the actual work and more people organising, classifying, reviewing those left to carry the can. I find it baffling missen.

    It is Greater Manchester ...

the police probably need another 7.5%, just to lag behind the criminals by the same margin

this won't be a popular post, but....

I'm going to defend councils. I've worked in various sectors and i know work for a council and I have to admit before I started I was very much of similar mindset to most. however, working for a council has opened my eyes to the realities that they face and the complexities of so many of the issues that people criticse them for.

Services cost money, lots of it, and due to changes introduced by all political parties more and more of the funding for services have to be funded by local authorites rather than central government. Also, council tax covers police and fire service too. When you take in to accoutn all those factors is council tax actually that high?

In terms of increases then they are inevitable. if inflation means products are going up then council tax ineviatble has to go up or services have to be cut.

By the way, my job title does have three titles in it :D
