bit of a shameless plug, but here goes ... quite a few folk on here ask about good places to eat in the area ... well, here's one to check out. http://bullshead.weebly.com/index.html Over Huddersfield/Holmfirth way, nice country pub, lovely views, good walks, fantastic food, great hospitality. Worth a drive out. and apparently owned by a Barnsley fan.
Food menu looks good, but what about the beer menu? Any real ale on tap? We'll be over in a couple of weeks and we'll be travelling between Manchester and Barnsley a lot. Would like to try it, provided there's decent beer on. Cheers.
Well there is some hand pulled beers on the pictures, so unless they were just props, then I reckon you will be ok for ale!!!
I did notice the picture as it happens - looks promising - but don't want to make any assumptions. Maybe the (very good) web-site needs to mention the beers, if in fact there is a selection of real ales; it mentions wines, but not fine beers! My other half is an Oldham fan, and this place is approx half-way between Barnsley and Oldham, so could be handy for us.
Old Skool musical website I'm liking that already - will definitely pop in. Looks quality. Chicken kievs?
Yeh Calgary well spotted. There are 3 real ales on rotation and two log fires, which I also didn't mention. Amended on the website now. It will improve soon with a gallery of photos, wine list etc thanks
Re: Old Skool musical website No chicken kievs son, although I'll be gorging on them next June, whilst booing the overpaid premiership ponces off the park, no doubt.
Looks like a good place, but one comment - it took me ages to find out where it is! Eventually I found it under "more - contact us". Good luck.
Will try and drop by over Christmas (or at least my other half might on the way to an Oldham game). Good luck with it.
