I don't think it's necessary a bad looking car, but it isn't a Capri. It's obviously aimed at a different demographic to the original, as everyone I've mentioned it to who aren't into classic cars have said it's a good looking car.
My 3rd car white Ford Capri 1.6xl coupe vynal roof. Was great looking car, passenger seat used to collapse when birds sat in it. One said you have this well trained.
Should've reused the Orion or Scorpio name or summat. It doesn't share any characteristics with the old Capri.
Ford have a history for it. The Mustang, Puma and Cougar (albeit now spelt Kuga) were all previously Coupe's, and now are crossovers. In fact, the new Puma is the smallest car they produce, suggesting they've gone all in on the big family car market, but aren't willing to let the old names they used die. I've heard the next GT40 is going to be a tractor.
It’s just not a capri - I mean the new mini is much different to the old mini - but if you looked at it, you’d say ‘it’s like a bigger mini’ Nobody is looking at that and saying it reminds them of a capri. strange decision to call it one tbh
What was the original demographic? A mullet, a tache, pilot style sunglasses and a punch in the face? Seemed to be to me.
It's disgrace calling that pile of ***** a Capri. I had a Black B reg 1600 laser with a body kit on (couldn't get the insurance on 2000 or 2800i) when I was a lot lot younger and it is still my favourite car despite me having much quicker fords later in life.
Ford just seem to be missing the spot now with these cars. The Explorer has just been released, about a year late, and by all accounts is just OK, worth nowhere near what they are asking for it. Its built on VWs' MEB platform in a partnership deal, and has carried over all the bits of VW's ID range that annoy people, like the horrible switch gear. It doesn't drive like a Ford, it drives like a VW. It's basically just a VW ID car with a different badge on it. If this is the best they can do, then they are in trouble. Much prefer an EV6, or even one of the Chinese offerings like the BYD Seal. It's about time this obsession with SUVs came to an end.
