When do people THINK the new head coach will be appointed?

    And

When Do people HOPE he will be appointed?

Seen a list today from Newport that says they are due back on the 22nd June for pre-season. That's 37 days away which isn't long at all so the clocks ticking.

My reasonable choice would be Nigel Clough.
Spent next to nothing at either Burton Albion or Mansfield Town but has achieved a fair degree of success playing decent football.
Sorry, just re-read original post and realised I haven't answered the question.

You'd be happy with any time before the season given the problems of the last 12 months.

Lack of team shape. Lack of team play on the ball. Lack of Fitness.
It's so hard to get that sorted once the seasons started and you are into 2 games a week.

Nigel Clough not a good choice in my opinion. I'm good mates with a Burton fan who co-commentates on their games for radio Derby, he was glad to see the back of him. Apparently he gives coaching jobs to his mates who aren't actually the best qualified.

We’ll appoint before the 27th May, that way the new manager can be part of the meetings on that day, makes sense as it gives us supporters a hopefully clear insight into what we are trying to achieve, then hopefully more people buy season tickets.

Who that man will be is anyones guess. But my gut feeling is Brian Barry-Murphy of Man City u23s, obvious connections with Khaled, & brief experience of league 1. I would expect him to be on the shortlist.

I'm not going to worry a second about when we appoint out next coach/manager because I'm sure they'll be in place well before it can be considered a problem.

What I am more concerned about is ensuring we get on a sustainable footing. And that involves getting rid of a lot of players.

I get the connections with BBM. But I wouldn't say the links are that great. Khaled was heavily linked with New York City whilst in the City Group.

Imagine. Brian Barry-Murphy and Barnsley Barry-Murphy could be on the same panel. Away fans would think we've named a stand after our new coach. Then the chants... There's only two Barry Murphy's etc etc. Marketing dream ;)

Hopefully they appoint well ahead of the start of pre-season, I can see perhaps why they'd want to have someone in place by the 27th May but I think they certainly need to be in post by the start of the transfer window on 10th June.

I think our pre-season training may well start around 22nd June with the season starting a week earlier at the end of July.

Do player contracts still run until end of June like previous years?

I think they will leave it till after the upcoming meeting, and the early bird date.
So anytime after June 1st then!.

I've no idea when it will be but I'd hope it would be in the next few weeks because they've had months to plan and the CEO was reminded of the very real possibility of relegation (and therefore termination of the managers contract) months ago.
