My guess would be at least £12 + VAT

    Phew - thats a relief

I was thinking it might have been less than £10

I might offer the mechanic £11.50 and my favourite copy of razzle

    You want Super Jamie mate.

Mobile auto service based in Monk Bretton. He's honest and fair and never overcharges. I'll PM his number if you like.

He doesn't call himself Super Jamie. I do.

I do love this site peoples expectations of information are huge. Hopefully that Rover mechanic will log on soon.

Do you know how much cork tiles are per square metre?

Are you after Spring cut or Autumn cut cork? Portugese or Spanish? Australian cork is good quality and decent price at the moment but doesn't have the irregularities of euro-cork that make it so interesting.

Dreaded HGF. Must be the 1800cc engine?

Depends on whether the head needs skimming too - did you drive it much after the gasket had blown?

    Up to about £400-500.

In that case its roughly three gross per metric tonne at £1.50 a bushel. Obviously price and weight are dependent on seasonal fluctuations.

Depends on thickness? Are you very dense?

I've got thick hair, if that helps to set the scene.

I actually want to know how much cork wall tiles are though, I can't find them anywhere on line, apparently according to a UK specific google search I can get a pack for 99 cents.

And don't tell me it's a fashion faux pas or something, it's a sound proofing issue, so there!

Oh yes, nice hair, do you use gel or is it naturally that shape?

Have you tried the Corkmaster range of tiles:

    Corkmaster

£40 per square metre! Is cork supplied by british gas?

Is bog roll easy to stick to walls?

    Actually don't answer that.

Cork is an endangered species, they had some sort of blight on the trees and it ruined the industry, thus massively inflating the price. Have you tried an environmentally friendly cork substitute such as Polystrene or Corkique?

    RE: Good Gasket Knowledge

How do you know it's HGF? Mayo on the dipstick or under the oil filler cap? Oil in the expansion tank?

The 1800cc K Series engine is a wonderful engine, but it is known to have an achilles heel. The HG.

Don't drive it though. If the head warps too much, it can't be skimmed, and then your talking a new one - which aint cheap.

Plus, when you take it to a garage, and the workshop bloke sucks in a deep breath of air, and says 'ah mate they all do that' find another garage.

Blimey I didn't realise it was endangered, I'll price up some bear skin and see how it compares.
