Got a new Sony Viao laptop Saturday, WINDOWS vISTA ETC.

Great thought I'd get Champ Manager 3 version on for a blast....but would not run it, not sure why, partly due to DirectX and got message not supported by version of Windows NT.

Anyway should I buy Football Manager 2006 now or wait for 2007 version?

FM 2007 has been out since Spetember mate, 2008 will be out around that time this year. FM is way better than Championship Manager, look on the net you can download 6 month trial versions.

By all accounts you should get Football Manager anyway, I've never played the new Champ Man but Football Manager is the genuine descendent of the original Champ Man.

You'll get FM 2007 (the new one is '08) for a tenner off the net to put you on 'til next season. Alternatively, try updating Direct X and / or you graphics drivers...

The Champ mgr version I am playing is an old version, when makers of current Football manager were on board. Thought it was October when 2007 would be released but if september then worth the wait.

    Try this

Right click on the Champ Manager icon on the desktop.
If Vista is like XP there is an option [maybe in Properties] to "Run As". It gives you the option to run as Windows 2000, Windows 98 etc.
Try playing about with those and see if it works.

Can't give you exact details, as I'm not on an XP machine.
