either Sean O'Driscoll or Phil Brown. Lets look at the facts. 1. The Club can't appoint within. Fans will go barmy and it is far far too risky at this point in the season 2. The club wont want to pay out compo for a new manager who is currently employed, plus we would have to go down the L1 L2 route. 3. It will probably leave us with only a list of unemployed managers to go with. Mangagers like Owen Coyle and Billy Davies are 50/50 candidates for me. Are we honestly attractive enough for either of these two to take charge? Now as for the above two in O' Driscoll and Phil Brown, Who is the best candidate? No doubt the current team and style favour the appointment of O'Driscoll. The only gripe is that he will want time to develop his style, build a squad and install his techniques but time isn't something we have on our side at the minute. Is there enough time for him to turn it round and get us to stay up. Probably not. Phil Brown. Not a bad CV. Did have a bad spell at PNE but what he did for Hull was incredible and not on a very big budget compared to other clubs in the championship. Has the right mentality to take the reigns straight away but what could he do long term? Very tricky descision for the board I think. Its gonna make or break us this next appointment. It has to be right and it has to be quick.
Davies and Brown I wouldn't put in charge of running a bath, coyle is so far superior I can't believe it's up for debate. having said that he'd never come to oakwell so it's all academic. if either of the first two got the job then the world really has gone mad.
Brown lost a helluva brownie points with prof footballers with his antics at man city so it depends how the players would react bit risky imo. What about Steve Keane
I've said Brown wouldn't come here, but after a bit of reading I think it's not that unlikely and I'm hopefully wrong. He sounds like he'd fancy the challenge and doesn't seem to mind the constraints of a small budget. He also knows how to succeed in this division and that brings an advantage in keeping us up and improving the team. The club won't have made this decision on the basis of today's game and I suspect they'll have a list of names at the ready.
Brown says he doesn't want his antics at Man City to be what people remember him for and he regrets it. Sounds like he is motivated by it tbh.
Personally, I wouldn't want Brown. Really can't fathom why anyone actually would.. O'Driscoll without doubt is a very good manager, but I really can't see us going in for him for some reason. Lets face it, there is a fair list of names who we all would pretty much like to see take the reigns. But as we know, that isn't how it always works out down at Oakwell. I honestly feel a bit for Keith right now, as much as I have given him stick over the last few weeks. I really have sympathy for any man who has to work with Don and Baz as their superiors..
I'll buy thi machine, r lass is always wanting to be tanned so she can set it up in dining room. Send me a PM
I think Brown would be a major disaster. Difficult to make an opinion on his time at PNE as were they a complete disaster before he took over? Certainly did not change when he did. Did he last 12 months at Preston? I seem to remember that when he was at Hull they signed Frazer-Campbell on a season loan for about £750,000, which is a reasonable budget to work with. Without doubt O'Driscoll for me. I think had he left Doncaster at the end of the season that Robins did we would have appointed him that summer. Instead he got sacked a few games into the new season after Ryan had fully committed to the agent-deal. He certainly has experience at this level and plays good football. I also dont think he would constantly moan about our low budget. Maybe if we had a squad of 22 players the budget might not be so low?
Why not appoint from within Branson and burton both barnsley through and through please tell me us as fans won't get behind our own you never know
Re: Worked with Ritchie Be happy with Sean O'Driscoll but not with Phil Brown. He's a League 2 manager for me. Owen Coyle and Billy Davies would be ideal, Davies first choice, but unrealistic to think that we can afford those two.
Phil Brown would be a bad move IMO. O'Driscoll would be a better choice but whoever we go with has a mountain to climb to secure our championship status.
