Is Redfearn doing anything? Would get the fans back on side, but not sure of his manager credibility though
Good God no. Destroying Redfearn's status in the eyes of the fans is about the only way this situation could be made worse!
We need a manager who has abit of experience at this level people talk about players lacking experience ....
Come on then let's have some names, realistic names, not Wilder, Hughton, Howe, Bruce, McCarthy and all the other fantasy football suggestions....a dose of reality please. As already mentioned elsewhere, I'll go...... Mark Cooper, did well at Forest Green and doing ok at Barrow currently. That is our level, hopefully.
I mean this is just depressing. Not criticising putting him forward, although he’s really not that great at all, but that we’ve got to go that low to get a realistic choice. I’d be inclined to stay in this country because a new Head Coach needs some of his own team around him. Schopp has been dealt a poor hand on that front.
Seriously, I think that is our level. We need to be looking at managers with experience of the British game, at a lower level, ambitious, who see us as a means to their promotion, it gives them passion, desire, hunger, something the current incumbent shows zero amount of in spades. It's fine saying he's been dealt a bad hand, maybe he has, but I'd like to see that he's slightly miffed, animated at that bad hand, but he shows nothing. Who from this level with a decent CV is coming to us on minimal wages, with no financial input to get relegated?
Would we go for someone out of work at minute, there's a fair few that are not employed on transfermarkt but not sure which of those we would attract if Schopp went.
Mark Cooper was rightly sacked by FGR. They were going nowhere. They’ll get promoted this season with ease. Honestly, I wouldn’t know where to go next. Do you pick an ambitious, young and promising Head Coach from a high flying League One or Two team? Do you take a highly respected former a pro that’s cut their teeth in the reserves or a bigger club? Or do you go back to the spreadsheet for someone abroad? Do you then ignore all of those options and aim for someone who might be solid like Aidy Boothroyd? Regardless of who we think anyway, the club would have a very different view of it.
On the other hand I'd be happy with a Bobby/ Disco double act, but have they ever shown any intention of wanting it. If and it's a big if, they do get rid of Schopp, I accept it's much more likely to be another (probably) Austrian we've never heard of.
Surely you don't go from Premier league play off hopefuls to Barrow in a season (no disrespect to Barrow of course). Matthias Jaissle fits the current owners bargain bucket Austrian league pick - but no clue if he's a) any good b) if he'd come to us. Not sure if you'd consider the ex Watford manager an unrealistic name. Obvious he got them up, but I'd imagine he's looking for work and its not as if he's had an illustrious managerial career. I'd imagine we'd probably not be able to afford him though. He probably has his sights on a team bigger than us too. Also not actually sure if he's that good or just inherited a team too good for the championship. Honestly I haven't a clue who we go for. What I do know is that in-between the fannying around in international break in relation to the stadium, that the owners really should have been planning a shortlist on who they'd want to get in to replace this guy. If they wait till after the Sheff U game to sack him *and then* take 2-3 weeks to find a replacement then it really would be grossly negligent running of things (granted we're used to that).
