http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/other_sports/olympics_2012/7081346.stm
Looks impressive, as modern stadia go ...........
However, what will it be used for once the show is over ? In London, cricket will still be played at Lords, footie at Wembley and Rugby at Twickenham. Concerts will more than likelybe at the 02arena.So apart from a couple of Athletics events ? I can't help thinking that when we won the bid, a quick call should have been put into the Wembley people (Wembley was half built at the time) along the lines of "Look, we'll build a village, equestrian centre and other sundries over in East London, howzabout we give you £xmillion to enhance Wembley to make it the ultimate stadium for years to come. In partnership like .... " Multiplex would have been happy, the goverment coffers would have been less hammered, and the taxpayer would have been smiling.
I just can't see what it is going to be used for .......

Reduction of capacity to 25k after the Olympics, so will still be used for athletics. They are also looking for a tenant, I think Leyton Orient were mentioned.
And Spurs are going to look at a new one too ..... if they decide not to upgrade the Lane.
Never mind a nation of shpkeepers, we're going to become a nation of stadia.

Bloody hell! Only at the planning stage and it's nearly 2008.
they're going to have to gerra move on or it won't be finished, given the usual inevitable delays.

I thought that this morning When I heard on the radio that they were unveiling the design! Thought that would be in place around the time of the bid
I'm hoping they will fill it with those little bags of dog ****, they've got to go somewhere haven't they? To stop us all going blind. Maybe you could take a trip there every couple of months and see how many you can throw over the side and maybe win prizes like 'hook-a-duck' or something. I'd be happy to pay £1 to throw 10 bags of **** to win a cheap teddy (the rules might fine tuning).
It was initially expected to cost £280m but the costs have since been revised.(to 496m?)I've noticed before that they arn't very good at adding up.
I think we can safely say that the 280m was just a number off the top of the head and it'll be more like 600m by time its finished..
What a bag of kac. normally a combination of incompetence in the public sector, combined with a rubbing of hands in joy at all the money they're going to make in the private sector.
