Well Mcindoe, togwell seem to be very good additions to the squad for this season, but i was, well i am still wondering what's happening with the goalkeeper and striker situation.

On the official site today Mr Ritchie says a goalkeeper not a worry???????????,but nothing mentioned for a striker which last week was hoping to have brought someone in before the Cardiff game.

    Horsfield prob the fee involved.

Rossie looks like he will figure for Man Utd alot this season.

For me i would like Sharp who seemed to be on fire last season.

We're not looking to bring a striker in - Ritchie in todays Star

    Striker hunt put on hold
MANAGER Andy Ritchie is ready to let Barnsley kick-off the season without experienced back-up to his front line.
The hunt for a proven striker to put pressure on Marc Richards and Paul Hayes has cooled off with Ritchie prepared to wait until the season is in full swing to land another centre forward.
Daniel Nardiello is still recovering from a broken collar-bone but Barnsley have Tommy Wright waiting in the wings plus other young prospects.
Barnsley's last game of the pre-season last night brought a 2-1 defeat by Wigan. Ritchie started with his first choice team but introduced eight subs in the second half. Michael McIndoe scored direct from a freekick.
Said Ritchie: "We probably do need a centre forward but Nathan Jarman came on against Wigan and I thought he was excellent and young Michael Coulson was impressive again and he can play up front. We do need someone but it is not as pressing as we once thought."
Ritchie still wants another 'keeper despite offering young Welsh prospect Kyle Letheren a contract. Barnsley will look at other keepers but Ritchie said: "Sheffield United went all last season without a goalkeeper on the bench. If we got an injury we could bring somebody in on loan during the season."
Former Rotherham United and Chesterfield keeper Mike Pollitt had a painful and embarrassing return to the region last night.
In the warm-up to the Oakwell friendly he crashed into the post, sustaining a one inch cut on his face that needed three stitches.
Pollitt missed the kick-off but made his way to the bench during the first half.
    Barnsley collected three minor injuries.
"Paul Reid has hurt his hand, it was quite sore at half-time, we strapped it up. I think he'll be okay, it will ease off," Ritchie explained. "Brian Howard got a little bit of a kick on his foot, which is a little bit sore. Marc Richards was feeling his hip just a touch. Other than that I think we're okay.
Republic of Ireland Under-21 right-wing Willo Flood is poised to make his debut for Cardiff at Oakwell on Saturday.
The tough-tackling Dubliner scored for Manchester City in his last game against Barnsley the season before last in a 7-1 League Cup rout.
Cardiff, who continue to chase Jason Koumas, are also keen to add a new striker to their squad.
Sheffield United's Geoff Horsfield was the latest name to be linked with Cardiff but the Barnsley-born centre forward has also been linked with a return to West Brom.

So, now we're not looking for a striker

I'm sorry but this is all very confusing with all the mixed messages coming out of Oakwell.
What about this phone call that Ritchie has said he is to make this Thursday to a Prem Club re loaning a striker?
I am sorry AR but a striker is a massive priority.

Agreed. We need a striker that can bag 15plus goals a season. We havent got one striker thats experienced at this level. We need a top striker every club has one. We need one asap

personally tina , i think ritchie is playing mind games

with whoever and whichever club(s) he is negotiating with for a striker. he may well be saying these things in public to make us not look too desperate for a striker - it puts us in a stronger bargaining position.

Looks like we missed out on Chopra,Jones Horsfield and Rossi we can create the chances it's who can make them count and put them away.

We need to get off to a good start a striker who has been there and done that fits the bill.
