Ive got Hammill and Hourihane who are the last players to be elected in to the unofficial legend category.

Am i right in this and have I missed anyone? Prior to these two are we going back to Redders for the last one to them?

Would Mowatt get in if he committs to being a red and signs again then plays for the next 3 years st his peak?

Does John Stones go down as a club legend?. Not for me.

What does it take to be a reds living legend?

I’d say Hassell and Bruce Dyer are the two between Redders and H&H.

If we can keep hold of Mowatt and Woodrow they have a chance to join that list. Winnall had that chance too, but he wrecked that!

Good call both still have a lot to do with the club and community which might point to more than just playing to become a reds legend.

If we are classing Hourihane in that regard, having been here only two and a half seasons, I’d say Craig Hignett is worth a shout, just under two seasons but a glut of goals and nearly dragged us into the premier league again.

Definitely top quality and difficult to say Hourihane and not Hignet or is it neither.

Another 3 seasons with a playoff push for him to get in so not yet IMO let's see others views.

I wouldn’t say so. Good player - in the group below with Disco, Nardiello, Foster, Roberts etc

In my time.. Winstanley, McCarthy, Redfearn, Hammil and Hourihane.
Mowatt is decent but not as good as a fair few others I could name. Woodrow I really like but would need another 40 goals. Come on Cauley, you can do it.

Edit. I just woke up in a cold sweat. I forgot to put in the greatest of them all. Ronnie! If I was Catholic I'd have to be straight down to confession!

If Hourihane has that status then Woodrow should also have it. Approaching 50 goals, promotion from league 1, survival in the championship and on course to move further up the league now.

    What defines a legend?
Longevity - Spud Murphy, Bobby Hassell, Gary Fleming, Phil Chambers, Neil Redfearn
Match winner - Ronnie Glavin, Craig Hignett, Mick Butler, David Currie, Adam Hammill, Neil Redfearn, John Hendrie
Leader on the pitch - Eric Winstanley, Mick McCarthy, Neil Redfearn, Connor Hourihaine
Character - Spud Murphy, Gerry Taggart, Darren Sheridan
Pure skill - Ronnie Glavin, David Currie, Craig Hignett, Martin Bullock, Adam Hammill.

Is it a combination of the above or just down to your own personal favourite.
Personally, although Connor was a good player, I never put him in the same class as midfielders like Redfearn, Hignett or Glavin.

I’d include redfearn in the skill bracket. My first game was in 1990, I’ve not seen anybody consistently able to score long range goals from outside the box, with either foot, like he did

Blood, Sweat & Tears: Disco and Stan. Neither of them were outstanding footballers, but both played plenty of games and properly threw themselves into playing for us, loved being here. Hassell would count as one of these too, Steve Foster as well.

Would Daniel Stendel be considered? Took us through an unbeaten home season and developed a real rapport with the fans. Can only wonder what he might done with the current squad /experienced signings

Isn’t it something to do with ‘feeling’ for the Club?

That’s as much as reason as to why Redfearn, Glavin and Taggart are in and why someone like Hignett isn’t.

Brilliant player was Craig but I once went to hear him speak at a football dinner. Never mentioned Barnsley once and when I questioned him about his time here it was clear it didn’t mean a lot to him. Doesn’t take away from his excellence as a player but.....
