2 Premiership players poised to join on loan. Both players currently on tour with their first team squads.Radio Sheffield sports news.
Hopefully this will cheer a few people up. I'm reasonably happy going into the season, but would be happier if we sign another CB. I think Foster does a good job against certain teams, but how often do we lose the ball (or hoof it away) because we pass it along the back and he doesn't feel confident enough to pass it around? Good player, but he's a battler/ball winner - not a cultured CB. Horses for courses.
Norwich - and I know they're trying to offload Leon Barnett. Also, I watched Chris Hughton's interview about Butterfield and he seemed to praise Hill regarding Butterfield's development.
All I keep thinking is we were decent with this defence when we had a decent midfield. F.ck defending, we'll just try scoring more than everyone else.
Half the premier league are in the US at the mo, spurs, Chelsea, Liverpool are. Don't think there's many perm teams who aren't on tour at the mo. Aren't there 3 or 4 in the far east too.
I reckon there's good potential for a link up with Liverpool. We play the same system as Rodger's employed at Swansea and the same style of football. He really praised what Hill is trying to do when we played them in the cup, probably see's us as a good place to send his players to make sure they aren't told to hoof it every time they get it
Aston Villa, Chelsea, Liverpool, Stoke and Tottenham in USA Man Utd in Africa and China Arsenal, Sunderland in Asia Norwich in Scotland Newcastle in Greece/Turkey Reading in Portugal West Brom in Germany West Ham in Denmark Not sure about the remaining clubs
But we scored summat similar. 2-2 gets the same as a 0-0. PS - I didn't mean our defence was great. I meant the team as a whole was decent which is why we were mid table.
You know I think there's some truth in that Dyson, it seems that our problems last season developed largely when the heart of our midfield was removed in December/January (although Hill did make some signings designed to fill the gap which clearly didn't work) and so hopefully our new signings for this season will correct that particular issue. That said we both know the current defence as it stands is nowhere near good or strong enough to deal regularly with Championship standard players, and we really do need at least one, maybe two experienced defenders - particularly that big nasty leader at centre half that we obviously lack. Don't envy Hill's job trying to find such players given how poorly we are able to compete with the majority of our fellow champioship clubs.
Either/or. We defended poorly all season. Whether Perkins or Drinkwater was in the team or not. Franz McNulty was a constant in that defence.
I don't think he's a bad defender - remember last year was his first ever as a centre half. What draws people's attention to him is when he loses the ball. Now if our midfield made it easier to pass to...
