Not gonna fill it though.
Would rather see a social club built rand back on t' Ponty (if tha can squeeze it in betwen all t' houses......)

You are joking I presume. I've been saying for a long time now why spend money on a ground we are going to struggle to fill in the first place. Oakwell is plenty big enough for our needs and there are better things to spend the money on, players for a start!
if its money from the council and cryne who own the carpark etc they may want it to be invested back into the ground
but... as it has been pointed out before... the players, and assets (ie car park, stand etc) are 2 seperate things. Anything sold on the asset side can't be ploughed into the playing staff side. So, in effect they are putting the money towards the new stand. how much of this is true I am unsure, but it kind of sounds right to me.
If the proceeds of this land sale can't be used to improve the the playing staff and therefore the possibility of promotion to a higher division, what is the point?
RE: Its NOT a new stand Only refurbishement; as part of it is officialy unsafe and closed to any fans. The lower part of that side (the concrete bit) was refurbished when the whole lot was done, AND I do believe that the upper part is GRADE 2 listed so they cant pull it down, only repair it..............
RE: Its NOT a new stand The upper part of the West Stand is listed? How can it be listed when there's a gret ugly gantry in front of the gable end? It's a feckin death trap. Not literally like.
listed?? how can a cow shed like that be listed. WTF does a sh1thole of an eyesore like that (that spoils the rest of the ground) have to be kept? not a personal attack at you mate, but that is scandalous
It's not true, it's utter, utter rubbish A business that has absolutely nothing to do with barnsley football club own some land that they are going to sell. They will sell it and make some money. End of story. That's it. There's no more to it. BFC won't receive any of the money as the land has nothing to do with them. BFC has been asset stripped. It doesn't own anything. Now, maybe some of the directors of Oakwell Community Assets Ltd (the company that own the land) will invest some of the money they make from the land sale into BFC, as a couple of these directors are also involved with BFC. But that will be an entirely seperate transaction and that money can be used for anything.
