I think the important thing if we spend money is that any player brought in will be able to partner Hume in the long term which creates a bit of a problem. If we need a 'fox in the box' or Phillips kind of striker and are prepared to spend a million plus then can that kind of player play with Hume? Does Hume need a Macken striker to play alongside? Will Hume be able to play again anyway? I just wonder if we are best trying to get Cureton for the remainder of the season (or another loan player) and then spending big to get a player who will compliment Hume next season, rather than using all our money on a Hume replacement leaving us with 2 similar players next year. Any thoughts?
As harsh as it sounds how sure are we that Hume is going to be the same player when he eventually returns? given the nature of his injuries etc. That said, I think we'd benefit from someone with physical presence up front, not necessarily an out and out target man, but someone who can hold the ball up AND provide an aerial threat. And pace. And goals.
I dont think Hume will play again, just cant see it. Obviously i hope im wrong but i wouldnt be signing players to play WITH him, we need a big strong target man and another striker if Cureton goes back.
He'll play again, don't worry about that I wouldn't be surprised if its next season though. We need to be signing the best strikers we can at the moment, we can worry about the partnership with Hume later.
