    I thought

    The Courthouse

used to be a Wetherspoons but was sold some time ago to Greene King. As far as I'm aware it is back on the market. I just hope it remains a real ale pub & doesn't get turned into a plastic pub or housing.

So is it shut at the moment?

Cos whilst I'm not a fan of most real ales (black sludge excepted - Acorn OMP, Wentworth Gun Park Dark, Old Pec etc) it'd be nice to retain some variety in the town centre establishments.

    Still open

Or at least it was the other week! Even though it's on the market, they are still running it, for now at least.

    RE: where?

The Orchard building just down from what was Curry's on Market Hill - although it's going to be one of their "Lloyds No. 1" bars rather than a normal Wetherspoons....went in one in Newcastle and I was less than impressed.

BTW & changing the subject again slightly

I don't suppose you're looking at being part of a team for the CFSN fundraiser. Got 2 possible teams so far from this board.

I raised the subject with the crowd I go boozing with

A handful of 'I'll get back to you's but overall I'm not optimistic we'll muster a team.
Pity if not, as it sounds quite a giggle to me.

I know City Tyke & ICU Tyke are looking at sorting something out. If you want to take part but can't get a team sorted yourself, you might want to join in with them.

If they can raise a team each, that'll take us to 9 confirmed teams as things stand at the moment.
